How It Happened
The Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes attacked the goal early as both Jack Malleret and Damean Dominguez sent the ball toward the net, but their shots went wide or hit the post to prevent them from taking the early lead. Southern Wesleyan countered as
Feren Nunez drove to the net. The Hurricanes were ready as goalkeeper Mauricio Uribe dove in front of the ball to save Nunez's attack from putting the Warriors ahead. The Warriors continued to press as both
Hykeem Martin and
Roye Maman shot the ball toward the net, but the Hurricanes thwarted each one to keep the game scoreless at the half.
The Hurricanes continued their pressure in the second half. Their attacks paid off as Matteo Landais scored the first goal of the game to give Georgia Southwestern the second half lead. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge with shots by both
Jon-Luke Rodriguez and
Pedro Fonseca, but Georgia Southwestern kept the Warriors from tying the game up. The Hurricanes put a second one in the net with just under ten minutes left in the game to extend their lead to 2-0. Georgia Southwestern went on to win the game in a 3-0 final score.
