Charlotte, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Queens University of Charlotte Royals in a 16-3 final score on Friday afternoon.
The Warriors collected eight hits in the loss to the Royals with
Parker Pillsbury leading the team with two. Pillsbury hit a home run and
Zach O'Malley doubled. Pillsbury recorded two of the three RBIs of the afternoon. Southern Wesleyan walked twice and
Ty King Richards was hit by a pitch.
Beau Shaw started on the mound for the Warriors and pitched 4.2 innings.
Sean Sutay,
Josh Fenton and
Sandy Johnson all came in to pitch in relief. Fenton led the Warriors with two strikeouts.

How It Happened
Queens struck early as a single by Brassington allowed Riley Cheek to come in and score to give the Royals the early 1-0 run advantage.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the second inning.
Ty King Richards led off the inning with a single to center field, but
Zach O'Malley hit into a fielder's choice on the next play to take King Richards off second base. A ground out by
DJ Ludwick allowed O'Malley to advance to second base.
Josh Asbill then walked to put two on with two out.
Clifton Olmstead drilled a single up the middle to bring O'Malley in to score and allow the Warriors to tie the game up 1-1.
In the top of the third inning, the Warriors took the lead as
Parker Pillsbury hit a home run down the right field line.
The Royals regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning on back-to-back sacrifice fly outs to put them ahead 3-2. Queens maintained the offensive as they scored runs in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take an 11-2 run lead.
The Warriors challenged in the top of the eighth inning.
Chance Fogel led off with a single to right field and then advanced to third on a single by
Josh Galloway. With runners at the corners,
Parker Pillsbury hit the ball through the right side for a single that allowed Fogel to score to put Southern Wesleyan down 11-3.
However, Queens went on to score five more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the game 16-3.
What's Next
The Warriors will return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on April 1 as they host the Queens University of Charlotte Royals at 1 and 4 p.m. They will then host the Limestone Saints on April 12 at 6 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will resume Conference Carolinas action on April 15-16 as they travel to Due West, SC to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet.
