Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the final two games of the series to the Francis Marion Patriots on Saturday in 16-4 and 19-5 final scores.
The Warriors collected 10 hits in game one with both
Will Pitts and
Josh Galloway recording two hits apiece. Both Galloway and
Josh Asbill doubled in the game, while
Chance Fogel recorded a triple. Galloway and Fogel each had two RBIs. The Warriors walked three times and
Zach O'Malley,
Caden Cotton and
Juan Garcia were all hit by pitches.
Jake Wisniewski started game one for Southern Wesleyan and pitched 3.2 innings.
TJ McEvilly,
Devyn Bond and
Josh Fenton all came in to pitch in relief.
Southern Wesleyan collected 10 hits in game two of the afternoon. Both
Will Pitts and
Chance Fogel had two hits in the game. Fogel had a double. Both Fogel and
Josh Asbill hit homers over the right field wall. Fogel led the team with three of the five RBIs. The Warriors walked twice and
DJ Ludwick stole a base.
Ash Faulk started the second game of the day. Southern Wesleyan's relief pitchers combined for five strike outs.

How It Happened
Game One
Francis Marion struck first as they brought one run in to score in the top of the first inning. They continued to attack in the top of the second and third innings to bring four more runs in to score. The Patriots took a 10-0 run advantage in the top of the fourth inning.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jordan Montgomery led off the inning with a single to left center field. A single through the left side by
DJ Ludwick advanced Montgomery to second base. With two runners on,
Ty King Richards laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance both Montgomery and Ludwick ninety feet.
Josh Asbill drilled the ball into right field for a double that allowed both runners to come in to score to put the Warriors within eight.
Will Pitts then singled to move Asbill to third base and then a walk to
Chance Fogel loaded up the bases and brought
Josh Galloway up to bat. Galloway reached on a fielder's choice that allowed both Pitts and Asbill to score to make the score 10-4.
The Patriots would not relent as they went on to score six more runs to win the game in a 16-4 final score.
Game Two
Francis Marion attacked the ball early in game two as they took a nine run lead after bringing runners across home plate in the first, second and third innings.
Southern Wesleyan challenged back in the bottom of the third inning.
Will Pitts led off the inning with a single to right center.
Chance Fogel then drilled the ball over the right field wall to bring Pitts in to score and put two runs on the board for the Warriors.
Josh Galloway then walked, but a single by
Zach O'Malley allowed Galloway to advance to second.
Ty King Richards laid down his second sacrifice bunt of the day to allow both runners to get into scoring position. With runners at second and third,
DJ Ludwick grounded out to second base to bring Galloway across home plate.
The Patriots were not deterred as they scored once again in the top of the fourth inning. However, in the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs,
Will Pitts reached on a single to third base.
Chance Fogel then drilled the ball to left center field for a double to bring Pitts in and allow Southern Wesleyan to come within six of Francis Marion.
Francis Marion scored once again in the top of the sixth, but Southern Wesleyan countered in the bottom of the sixth as
Josh Asbill hit a home run over the right center field wall.
The Patriots went on to win the game in a 19-4 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on April 5 as they welcome the Anderson Trojans to Dr. C Keith Connor Field. They will then travel to Charlotte, NC to take on the Queens University of Charlotte Royals on April 8
th, before turning around to host the Queens Royals on April 9
th. The Warriors will then welcome the Limestone Saints to Central, SC on April 12 at 6 p.m.
