Due West, SC – Southern Wesleyan challenged the Erskine Flying Fleet in the first two games of the three game series. However, the Warriors dropped the games in 12-11 and 8-7 final scores.
Southern Wesleyan recorded 13 hits in the first game of the day.
Parker Pillsbury led the team with three hits.
Ty King Richards,
Josh Galloway and
Josh Asbill followed with two hits. Galloway, Pillsbury and
Clifton Olmstead doubled and
Chance Fogel had the lone triple of the day for the Warriors. The Warriors hit four home runs off the bat of Pillsbury,
Will Pitts,
Dawson Posick and Asbill. Both Pillsbury and Posick led the team with three RBIs. The Warriors walked three times and Fogel stole a base.
Beau Shaw started the game for the Warriors and struck out two batters.
Sean Sutay,
TJ McEvilly and
Jacob Standridge all came in to pitch in relief. Sutay led the team with four strikeouts.
The Warriors picked up 10 hits in the second game.
Chance Fogel,
Josh Galloway and
Dawson Posick led the team with two hits apiece.
DJ Ludwick was the lone Warrior to double in game two. Fogel, Galloway and Posick all recorded solo home runs. Southern Wesleyan walked four times and Fogel stole two bases.
Jake Wisniewski started game two on the mound for Southern Wesleyan, pitching four innings while striking out one batter.
Devyn Bond and
Aaron Bennett came in to pitch in relief. Bond led the team with three strikeouts.

How It Happened
Game One
Erskine struck early as a home run from Rivera put the Flying Fleet on top 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the second inning as
Will Pitts sent the ball over the left center field wall to put the Warriors behind the Flying Fleet 3-1.
The Flying Fleet extended their lead in the bottom of the second inning. However, the Warriors continued to chip away at Erskine's lead in the top of the third.
Chance Fogel reached first on a throwing error by the shortstop. Fogel then advanced to second on a sacrifice ground out by
Ty King Richards. With two outs,
Parker Pillsbury sent the ball over the left field wall for the Warriors second home run of the afternoon and to put Southern Wesleyan behind the Fleet 4-3.
Erskine scored once again in the bottom of the third inning to regain their two run advantage over Southern Wesleyan.
The Warriors tied the game up in the top of the fifth inning.
Josh Asbill led off the inning with a single to shortstop. Asbill came in to score as
Chance Fogel drilled the ball to right center for a triple. With one out,
Josh Galloway ground out to shortstop to allow Fogel to come in and score to allow Southern Wesleyan to tie the game 5-5.
Erskine regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as they scored three more runs to take an 8-5 run advantage.
Southern Wesleyan would not be discouraged by the Erskine lead as they challenged in the top of the seventh inning.
Chance Fogel led off by reaching first base after being hit by a pitch. Fogel then stole second base to put him in scoring position. With one out,
Josh Galloway doubled to left center to bring Fogel in to score and put the Warriors within two of the Flying Fleet.
Parker Pillsbury was then intentionally walked. A ground out by
Zach O'Malley allowed both Pillsbury and Galloway to advance ninety feet. With two outs,
Dawson Posick drilled the ball over the left field wall to allow the Warriors to take a 9-8 run lead.
The Warriors continued to push ahead as, with one out in the top of the eighth inning,
Josh Asbill hit a solo home over the center field wall to allow Southern Wesleyan to extend their lead to 10-8.
Chance Fogel walked and then advanced to second as
Ty King Richards singled through the left side. An error by the shortstop allowed
Josh Galloway to reach first to load up the bases and bring
Parker Pillsbury up to bat. Pillsbury flew out to left field, but Fogel was able to come in to score on the play to give the Warriors a three run advantage.
Erskine fought back as they brought four runs to score in the bottom of the eighth inning on a hit by Rivera and three run home run by Wade to win the game in a 12-11 final.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gates in the second game of the afternoon as both
Chance Fogel and
Josh Galloway hit solo home runs to allow the Warriors to take a 2-0 lead.
Erskine countered in the bottom of the first off a solo home run by Rivera.
The Warriors continued to push ahead as
Dawson Posick hit a home in the top of the second inning to extend the lead to 3-1.
The Flying Fleet took the lead in the top of the third inning as they brought three runs in to score.
Southern Wesleyan fought back in the top of the fifth inning.
Chance Fogel led off the inning with a single up the middle. With one out,
Josh Galloway singled to the pitcher to allow Fogel to advance to second.
Parker Pillsbury walked to load up the bases. With the bases loaded,
Zach O'Malley singled to right field to bring Fogel in to tie the game up. With two out and the bases still loaded,
Josh Asbill walked to put the Warriors on top 5-4.
Erskine regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as Boyd hit a home run down the right field line to bring two runs in to score.
The Warriors would not go down without a fight as they struck again in the top of the sixth inning. With one out,
Chance Fogel reached on an error by the third baseman.
Ty King Richards then singled to left center to allow Fogel to advance to third base. An error by the second baseman allowed
Josh Galloway to reach first and brought Fogel in to score to tie the game up at six runs apiece.
Southern Wesleyan took the lead in the top of the seventh inning.
Clifton Olmstead led off the inning by reaching first on a walk. Olmstead then advanced to second on a ground out by
Josh Asbill.
DJ Ludwick hit the ball down the left field line for a double to bring Olmstead in to score and put the Warriors on top 7-6.
However, in the bottom of the seventh inning the Flying Fleet came back to win the game in an 8-7 final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on April 22 and 23 to host the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. They will remain at home on April 26 as they take on the Georgia College Bobcats at 4 p.m. The Warriors will wrap up the Spring 2022 season on the road as they travel to Mount Olive, NC to take on the University of Mount Olive Trojans on April 29-30.
