Warriors Fall to Lions on the Road

Franklin Springs, GA – The Warriors fell to the Emmanuel Lions in 10-0 and 12-3 final scores on Thursday afternoon.

Emma Collins recorded the lone hit of the first game against the Lions.  Delaney Byers was hit by pitches twice.  Faith Bowen started the first game of the series and pitched four innings while striking out one batter.

The Warriors picked up two hits in the second game with both hits coming off of the bat of Lydia Clanton.  Clanton recorded a home run and led the team with all three RBIs of the day.  The Warriors walked twice.  Emma Collins pitched the second game of the day and struck out two over 5.1 innings pitched.

How It Happened

Game One
The Lions of Emmanuel charged out of the gate as they scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Emmanuel continued to push ahead with runs in the second and fourth innings to win the first game in a 10-0 final score.
 
Game Two
Emmanuel took the first runs of game two as they plated seven runs between the first and fifth innings to claim the early lead.

Southern Wesleyan challenged in the top of the sixth inning.  With one out, Delaney Byers reached first on an error and then advanced to second as Emma Collins walked.  A ground out by Emma Jo Wolfe allowed both Byers and Collins to advance a base.  Lydia Clanton then drilled the ball over the center field wall to put the Warriors within four runs of the Lions.

Emmanuel continued to push on ward as they brought five more runs across the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the game 12-3.
 


 
What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Bristol, TN to take on the King Tornado on April 20 at 1 and 3 p.m.  The Warriors will then travel to Mrufreesboro, NC to take on the Chowan Hawks on April 22.  They will then take on the Barton Bulldogs on April 23 in Wilson, NC.
