Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Webber International Warriors on Thursday in a 12-9 final score.
The Warriors took 38 shots and 26 shots on goal in the victory over the Webber Warriors.
Tabitha Beecher led the team with 13 shots, nine on goal. Beecher went on to lead the team with four goals. She was followed by
Kelsey Hawkins with three goals and
Jocelyn Cosgrove with two goals. Southern Wesleyan had seven assists with Beecher leading the team with four.
Southern Wesleyan collected 13 draw controls with
Jairy Sandoval leading the team with nine. The Warriors were able to cause 17 turnovers. Sandoval caused five turnovers and
Kaeleigh McDaniel caused four. Southern Wesleyan had 24 ground balls. McDaniel played sixty minutes in goal and collected 14 saves.

How It Happened
The Warriors of Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate as
Tabitha Beecher passed the ball over to
Jocelyn Cosgrove. Cosgrove got around the defense and put the ball into the back of the cage to put the Warriors on top 1-0. Webber International countered with a goal from Samantha Esher. Southern Wesleyan was not deterred as
Tabitha Beecher and
Kelsey Hawkins scored back-to-back goals to put the Warriors ahead 3-1 with just under eight minutes left in the quarter. The Warriors continued to push ahead as Beecher scored once again.
Yael Echeverria and
Mackenzie Moreau each took shots on the goal, but neither of their attacks were able to find the back of the cage. Echeverria maintained the pressure and put the ball into the back of the cage to extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to four goals. Webber scored once more, but Southern Wesleyan remained on top at the end of the first quarter.
Webber challenged in the second quarter as Samantha Esher and Natalie Baumgaren took shots on the goal, but
Kaeleigh McDaniel saved their attacks to keep Webber from cutting into Southern Wesleyan's lead.
Jesse Soles got the ball over to
Kelsey Hawkins who put the ball into the back of the cage to allow the Warriors to regain their four goal advantage. Webber International challenged back as Lauren Dombroski and Esher each scored. However, the Warriors were not discouraged as
Jocelyn Cosgrove drove to the cage and scored once again. Playing man-up,
Kelsey Hawkins passed the ball over to
Haylee Cureton, who drove to the net and score to give Southern Wesleyan an 8-4 goal advantage at halftime.
Southern Wesleyan attacked early as
Mackenzie Moreau,
Tabitha Beecher and
Yael Echeverria took shots, but Hannah Register and the Webber defense would not let them extend their lead further. The quarter remained scoreless as both sets of Warriors defended the others attacks. However, the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan continued to press ahead as
Tabitha Beecher got the ball over to
Mackenzie Moreau, who scored her second goal of the season to give the Warriors a 9-4 goal advantage. Webber challenged as Kaitlyn Patterson and Ayame Macedo scored back-to-back goals to put them within three of Southern Wesleyan.
Webber came within two goals of Southern Wesleyan as Bryce Gerber scored. The Warriors of Central, SC would not relent their attacks though as
Ansley Burroughs took a shot, but Hannah Register saved the attack. Shots by

Haylee Cureton were also unable to reach the back of the cage. The Warriors continued to attack as
Tabitha Beecher scored once again to put them ahead by three goals. Webber scored once again to keep them within two. However, back-to-back goals by Beecher and
Kelsey Hawkins allowed the Warriors to walk away with a 12-8 goal victory.
What's Next
The Warriors will next travel to Wilson, NC on April 2 to take on the Barton Bulldogs. They will then return to Childs Field on April 9 to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the regular season on April 21 as they travel to Tigerville, SC to take on the North Greenville Crusaders.
