Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan picked up their second conference win of the season on Monday evening as they defeated the Emmanuel Lions in a 13-5 final score.
The Warriors collected 12 hits in their victory over the Lions.
Jordan Montgomery,
Ty King Richards,
Clifton Olmstead and
DJ Ludwick all doubled. Olmstead led the team with three of the thirteen RBIs. Southern Wesleyan walked eight times and they were hit by pitches four times. The Warriors had five stolen bases with
Chance Fogel leading the team with two.
Sean Sutay started the final game of the series for the Warriors. Sutay pitched six innings and struck out five while only allowing one earned run.
Jake Wisniewski came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors. Wisniewski pitched the final three innings and struck out seven batters and pick up the save.

How It Happened
The Warriors struck early in the final game against the Emmanuel Lions.
Will Pitts led off with a line drive single to right field. However,
Chance Fogel hit into a fielder's choice that took Pitts off the base pads. A ground out by
Josh Galloway allowed Fogel to advance to third base.
Zach O'Malley was then hit by a pitch to put runners at the corners and bring
Jordan Montgomery up to bat. Montgomery drilled a double to left field to bring both Fogel and O'Malley in and put the Warriors ahead 2-0.
Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead in the top of the second inning.
Ty King Richards led off with a double to left field and then advanced to third base on a ground out by
Dawson Gilstrap. With King Richards ninety feet from home play,
DJ Ludwick drilled the ball to right field for a double. The double brought King Richards in to score. On a ground out by
Will Pitts, Ludwick advanced to third base.
Chance Fogel knocked in a single to center field to bring Ludwick home and put the Warriors ahead 4-0.
Emmanuel countered in the bottom of the second inning as a single by Anderberg allowed Minnis to score to put the Lions down 4-1.
The Warriors pushed further ahead in the top of the fourth inning.
DJ Ludwick led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a ground out by
Will Pitts.
Chance Fogel was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base with one out. Ludwick advanced to third on a passed ball to put runners on the corners. A hard ground ball single to right field allowed both Ludwick and Fogel to come in and score and extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to 6-1.
The Lions challenged back in the bottom of the fourth as they brought one more run in to score. They struck once again in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Southern Wesleyan continued to extend their lead in the top of the eighth inning.
Chance Fogel reached first on an error by the second baseman and then stole second base. Fogel advanced to third on an error by the pitcher.
Josh Galloway then walked and
Zach O'Malley was hit by a pitch to load up the bases. However,
Jordan Montgomery ground into a fielder's choice to take Fogel off the base pads. With the bases loaded,
Josh Asbill walked to bring Galloway in to score.
Ty King Richards singled on a bunt to the pitcher to allow O'Malley to come home to give the Warriors an 8-3 run advantage. The Warriors continued to push ahead as
Clifton Olmstead doubled to left field to clear the bases and bring three runs in to score.
DJ Ludwick hit a line drive to left field to reach first base and bring Olmstead across home plate and give the Warriors a nine run advantage.
With one out in the top of the ninth inning,
Zach O'Malley singled to left field.
Jonny Middlebrooks came in to run for O'Malley. An error by the shot stop allowed
Jordan Montgomery to reach first and advance Middlebrooks to third base.
Josh Asbill ground into a fielder's choice to bring Middlebrooks in to score and give the Warriors a ten run advantage.
Emmanuel countered with two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. However, Southern Wesleyan won the game in a 13-5 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will next travel to Gaffney, SC on March 15 as they take on the Limestone Saints. Southern Wesleyan will then return home on March 18 as they host the North Greenville Crusaders at 6 p.m. They will then wrap up the series against the Crusaders on March 19 at 1 and 4 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will then travel to Milledgeville, GA on March 22 to take on the Georgia College Bobcats.
