Warriors Drop First Two Games of Series to Lions

 
Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell in the opening double header against the Emmanuel Lions on Sunday in a 12-3 and 6-2 final scores.
 
The Warriors collected seven hits in the first game of the afternoon with both DJ Ludwick and Will Pitts leading the team with two hits.  Both Chance Fogel and Jordan Montgomery doubled, and Will Pitts hit his first home run of the season.  Pitts and Josh Asbill had the lone RBI's of the day for the Warriors.  Beau Shaw started on the mound for the Warriors and struck out two batters.  Ryan Moore pitched three innings in relief and struck out two.
 
The Warriors recorded seven hits in the second game of the day.  Both Jordan Montgomery and Josh Galloway had two hits in the game.  Montgomery and Galloway had doubles.  Will Pitts and Ty King Richards recorded RBIs in the loss.  TJ McEvilly started the second game for the Warriors.  Jacob Standridge came to pitch in relief and struck out three batters over 4.1 innings pitched.

How It Happened
 
Game One
The Lions of Franklin Springs took the first runs on the first game of the day as a fielder's choice and error allowed two runs to score.
 
The Warriors fought back in the top of the second inning.  Will Pitts led off with a walk and then advanced to third as Jordan Montgomery doubled.  With two in scoring position and one out, Josh Asbill grounded out to bring Pitts in to score to put Southern Wesleyan down one run to Emmanuel.
 
Southern Wesleyan went on to tie the game in the top of the third inning.  DJ Ludwick led off with a single and then advanced to second on a ground out by Chance FogelJosh Galloway reach on an error that allowed Ludwick to come in and score to tie the game up.
 
However, the Lions pushed ahead to bring four runs in to score in the bottom of the third to take the lead once again.  Emanuel scored once again in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings.
 
Will Pitts homered to lead off the top of the sixth inning.  The Lions continued to push ahead as they went on to win the game in a 12-3 final score.
 
 
Game Two
The Lions attacked early as they brought runs in to score in the bottom of the first and second innings to put them ahead 6-0.
 
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the sixth inning.  Josh Galloway led off with a double and then advanced to third on a single by Jordan MontgomeryWill Pitts singled to bring Galloway in to score.  With runners at first and second, Ty King Richards single to allow Montgomery to come across home plate.  However, the Warriors fell to the Lions in the second game 6-2.
 
 
 
What's Next
 
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on March 14 as they wrap up the series against the Emmanuel Lions at 6 p.m.  They will then travel to Gaffney, SC to take on the Limestone Saints on March 15 at 6 p.m.  The Warriors will return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on March 18-19 as they host the North Greenville Crusaders.
