Mount Olive, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the University of Mount Olive Trojans on Saturday evening in a 76-68 final score.
The Warriors shot 45.5% from the field in the loss and were 31.8% from beyond the arc.
Julian Cameron led the team with 20 points. He was followed by
Demarcus Addie with 16 points. Southern Wesleyan had eight assists in the game with
Davion Bradford leading the team with three.
Southern Wesleyan collected 25 rebounds with
Davion Bradford boasting six to lead the team. Both
Tranard Ferrell and
Demarcus Addie had solo blocks. The Warriors had six steals with Bradford collecting three. He was followed by Addie with two.

How It Happened
The Trojans took the first point of the game on a layup by Alan Treakle, but a three pointer by
Julian Cameron put the Warriors on top by one. A second three pointer from Cameron put the Warriors ahead by four. Mount Olive countered to come within two, but Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead with baskets by
Demarcus Addie and
Tranard Ferrell.
Ta'Jay Dunlap stepped beyond the arc and fired off a three point shot to give the Warriors an eleven point lead with just under fourteen minutes left in the half. Mount Olive pressed forward, coming to within seven of the Warriors on a layup by Trayvon Ferrell.
Solomon Smith laid the ball up to give the Warriors a ten point lead. Mount Olive continued to challenge as a layup by Michael Brown put them behind the Warriors 30-28 at the halftime.
Mount Olive took the first points of the second half on a jump shot by Michael Brown to tie the game up at thirty points apiece. They then took the lead seconds later on another basket by Brown. Southern Wesleyan fought back as a three point shot by
Julian Cameron allowed the Warriors to maintain a three point lead with just under seventeen minutes left to play in the half. Layups by
Davion Bradford and
Demarcus Addie extended Southern Wesleyan's lead to 39-35. However, Mount Olive countered with a three point shot by Ferrell to keep the game within one point. Despite a layup by Cameron, the Trojans rallied back with a three point shot by Alan Treakle to tie the game at forty-one points each. Mount Olive continued to push ahead with back-to-back layups by Alan Treakle. A layup by
Quinian Rieves kept the game within six points. Three pointers by
Demarcus Addie and
Julian Cameron allowed the Warriors to stay within eight points. However, the Trojans continued to push ahead to win the game in a 76-68 final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on February 8 as they host the King Tornado at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors will then travel to Pembroke, NC on February 11 to take on the UNC Pembroke Braves. They will remain on the road on February 12 to take on the Chowan Hawks.
