Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Barton Bulldogs on Friday evening in a 98-89 final score for their sixth consecutive win.
The Warriors shot 60.7% from the field and were 37% from beyond the arc.
Demarcus Addie led the team with 23 points. Behind Addie, four other players post double digits during the victory. Southern Wesleyan had 22 assists with
Tranard Ferrell leading the team with six. He was followed by
Ta'Jay Dunlap and
Julian Cameron with four each.
Defensively, Southern Wesleyan had 36 rebounds. Both
Arusha Hunter and
Tranard Ferrell had eight.
Demarcus Addie followed with seven. Hunter had two of the four blocks with both Ferrell and
Davion Bradford collecting solo blocks. The Warriors stole the ball away three times.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan took the first points of the game as
Arusha Hunter made a three pointer. They extended their lead seconds later as
Tranard Ferrell laid the ball up to give the Warriors a 5-0 point advantage. Barton countered with jump shots by David Campbell and Marcus Boykin.
Ta'Jay Dunlap drove to the basket and laid the ball up to extend the Warriors lead to 9-6. The Bulldogs countered the Warriors' attacks, but layups by
Solomon Smith and Dunlap pushed the Warriors lead to five points.
Demarcus Addie took a pass by Dunlap from beyond the arc and put up a three. Barton countered with back-to-back layups by Donaven Hairston and Malik Bryant. Addie laid the ball up to put the Warriors ahead 27-18. The Bulldogs continued to chip away at the Warriors lead as Boykin made free throws to put them within eight points.
Julian Cameron sunk a jump shot to put the Warriors ahead by ten points. The Warriors continued to distance themselves from the Bulldogs as
Demarcus Addie dunked the ball into the net and
Arusha Hunter scored a three. The Warriors went on to lead 53-37 at halftime.
Barton kicked off the second half with a three by Donaven Hairston and then extendeded it to 53-42 behind the Warriors seconds later on a layup by David Campbell.
Julian Cameron made a three with just over eighteen left in the half to put the Warriors ahead 56-43. Southern Wesleyan continued to shut down the Bulldog's defense and push ahead as
Tranard Ferrell dunked the ball into the net. Barton countered with back-to-back dunks by Malik Bryant and Caleb Reams. The Bulldogs took the lead on a layup by Reams. The lead was short lived as
Ta'Jay Dunlap scored a jump shot and three point basket. The Warriors would not relent as a three point basket by
Arusha Hunter extended the Southern Wesleyan lead to seven points. With just over six minutes left,
Solomon Smith made a jump shot to give them an 82-73 point advantage. The Warriors continued to push around the Bulldogs' defense as a jump shot by
Ta'Jay Dunlap allowed them to extend their lead to thirteen points. Barton challenged back, but the Warriors went on to win the game 98-89.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on February 5 as they travel to Mount Olive, NC to take on the University of Mount Olive Trojans at 4 p.m. The Warriors will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on February 8 to host the King Tornado. They will then travel to Pembroke, NC to take on the UNC Pembroke Braves at 7 p.m.
