Wingate, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Wingate Bulldogs in double header action on Monday afternoon. They dropped the first game 10-2 and the second game 4-3.
The Warriors had eight hits in the first game of the day with three players posting two hits in the game. Both
Addi Johnson and
Emma Jo Wolfe doubled.
Kaitlyn Stewart had the lone RBI. Southern Wesleyan had one walk.
Faith Bowen started the first game and pitched five innings while striking out one.
Southern Wesleyan recorded five hits in game two with
Emma Collins leading the team with two hits. Three Warriors recorded RBIs in the game. Southern Wesleyan walked once and Collins had the lone stolen base for the Warriors. Collins pitched all six innings for the Warriors and struck out five batters.

How It Happened
Game One
Wingate took an early lead as they scored four runs between the first and second innings of the game.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the third inning.
Delaney Byers led off as she singled to shortstop.
Addi Johnson then doubled down the left field line to advance Byers to third base. A wild pitch then allowed Byers to come in to score and put the Warriors down 4-1.
The Warriors continued to cut into the Bulldogs lead in the top of the sixth inning. With two out,
Emma Jo Wolfe doubled to left center.
Kaitlyn Stewart then singled up the middle to bring Wolfe in.
However, Wingate went on to bring six more runs in to give them a 10-2 run victory.
Game Two
Wingate took an early 3-0 lead as Reeves homered to right center field.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the third inning.
Emma Collins led off with a single down the left field line and then advance to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Haley Bertie. With Collins at second,
Delaney Byers was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base and bring
Addi Johnson up to bat. Johnson singled to right field to bring Collins home.
Emmy Copeland followed with a single to left field to allow Byers to come in and score.
The Bulldogs pushed further ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Warriors fought back in the top of the seventh inning to keep it close.
Emma Collins led off with a single up the middle. A fielding error allowed
Haley Bertie to reach and advance Collins to second. Collins then stole third. A sacrifice fly out to left field by
Delaney Byers allowed Collins to come in and score. However, the Warriors fell in a 4-3 final.
What's Next
The Warriors will then travel to Young Harris, GA to take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions on March 8 at 3 and 5 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road as they travel to Tigerville, SC to open up Conference Carolinas action on March 19 against the North Greenville Crusaders. They will return home on March 22 to host USC Salkahatchie in exhibition play. Southern Wesleyan will then host the Lees-McRae Bobcats and Francis Marion Patriots on March 25 and 26.
