How It Happened
Lees-McRae took the first points of the game on a jump shot by Jala Holloman, but a layup by
Brooke Henricks allowed the Warriors to tie the game up seconds later. Henricks stepped beyond the arc and made a three point shot to put Southern Wesleyan ahead by one. The Bobcats countered seconds later with a three from Malikah Meyers to put them back ahead. They continued to push ahead with baskets by Thailand Smith and Holloman. With three minutes left in the first quarter,
Shelby Glance sunk a three from beyond the arc to put the Warriors down two.
The Bobcats extended their lead to seven points on a jump shot by McKenna Kersat. Southern Wesleyan continued to chip away at Lees-McRae's lead with a jump shot by
Allie Newberry and three pointer by
Brittany Mack to put them within five.
Nakia Hooks passed the ball over to
Tristen Berry and she stepped beyond the arc to sink a three to put the Warriors down 30-28. With just over a minute left to play, Mack sunk a three to allow the Warriors to tie the game up at thirty-two points apiece. The Bobcats pushed ahead to lead 37-32 at the half.
The Warriors took the first points of the third quarter on a jump shot by
Lonesha Lee. Lees-McRae continued to push ahead on three point shots by Jala Holloman and MaKayla Smith. A three point shot by
Brittany Mack put the Warriors within four with just under seven minutes left. Southern Wesleyan did not relent as a three pointer by
Shelby Glance put the Warriors ahead 47-45.
Kayla Garrett passed the ball over to Mack who stepped beyond the arc to sink a three and give the Warriors a seven point lead.
Lees-McRae regained the lead to kick off the fourth quarter with a jump shot by McKenna Kersat to give the Bobcats a 53-52 point lead. A layup by
Brittany Mack allowed the Warriors to regain the lead.
Shelby Glance stepped beyond the arc and made a three to give the Warriors a 57-55 point lead. Back-to-back threes by Jala Holloman allowed the Bobcats to regain the lead. Lees-McRae extended their lead to 68-62 on a three pointer by Malikah Meyers. The Bobcats went on to win the game in a 79-67 final score.
