Columbia, SC – Southern Wesleyan split the double header against the Columbia International Rams on Saturday afternoon. They dropped the first game 9-8 before claiming the game two victory in a 14-10 final score.
The Warriors recorded 10 hits in game one with four players collecting two hits.
Addi Johnson doubled during the game.
Emmy Copeland,
Emma Jo Wolfe and
Mary Sullivan all had two RBIs in the game. Southern Wesleyan walked three times in the first game and
Emma Collins had a stolen base.
Delaney Byers was hit by a pitch.
Faith Bowen started the first game and struck out six batters.
Emma Collins came in to pitch in relief.
Southern Wesleyan had 13 hits in the second game of the day.

Savannah Huff and Sullivan all had RBIs during the game. The Warriors walked three times and six players stole bases in the game.

How It Happened
Game One
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the game.
Delaney Byers led off for the Warriors and was hit by a pitch. Byers advanced to third as
Addi Johnson doubled to center field. With two runners in scoring position,
Emmy Copeland singled to left field to allow both Johnson and Byers to come in and give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.
Columbia International countered to score one run in the bottom of the first inning.
The Warriors continued to push ahead in the top of the third inning. With one out,
Addi Johnson singled to left field and then advanced to second on a single to center field by
Emmy Copeland.
Savannah Huff grounded out to advance both the runners ninety feet. Emma Jo Wolf singled to bring Johnson home. Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead as
Lydia Clanton singled to left field to bring Copeland home and give the Warriors a 4-1 run lead.
The Rams brought in runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to come to within one run of the Warriors. Columbia International took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on home runs by Patton and Miller.
The Warriors challenged in the top of the sixth inning.
Emma Jo Wolfe reached first on an error by the shortstop and then advanced to second on a single to left field by
Lydia Clanton. With two runners on,
Mary Sullivan singled to left field and then advanced to second on the throw. The play allowed Wolfe to come in to score to put the Warriors down 9-5 to the Rams. With runners on second and third,
Haley Bertie grounded out to bring Clanton in to score.
Southern Wesleyan continued to chip away at Columbia International's lead in the top of the seventh inning. With one out,
Emmy Copeland walked.
Savannah Huff then singled to left field and advanced to second on the throw. With both Copeland and Huff in scoring position,
Emma Jo Wolfe grounded out to allow Copeland to come across home plate.
Lydia Clanton walked. With two runners on,
Mary Sullivan singled to right field to bring Huff home. However, the Warriors fell to the Rams in game one 9-8.
Game Two
Columbia International took the first runs of the second game to give them an early 3-0 lead. However, the Warriors countered in the top of the second inning.
Lydia Clanton led off with a single to center field and then advanced to third as
Emma Jo Wolfe reached on an error. Wolfe then stole second and Clanton came in to score on the throw to second base. Down by two runs,
Mary Sullivan singled to left field and advanced to second on the throw. Wolfe was about to come in to score on the play. Sullivan then stole third base to put her in scoring position. With one out,
Haley Bertie reached first on an error to bring Sullivan home to tie the Rams. Bertie then stole second base.
Delaney Byers then singled to center field to bring Bertie in and give the Warriors a 4-3 run lead.
The Warriors continued to push ahead in the top of the third inning.
Lydia Clanton led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. A ground out by
Emma Jo Wolfe allowed Clanton to advance to third. With two out,
Emma Collins walked. Collins then stole second to put both her and Clanton in scoring position. A passed ball allowed Clanton to score and advanced Collins to third base.
Haley Bertie walked to put runners on the corners.
Delaney Byers singled to center field and then an error by the center fielder allowed both Bertie and Collins to come in to score. A single by
Addi Johnson singled to center field to bring Byers in and put the Warriors lead at 8-3.
Columbia International cut Southern Wesleyan's lead in half on a single by Ellis to bring Self in and make the score 8-4.
Savannah Huff led off the fourth inning with a home run. With two outs,
Mary Sullivan singled to left field. A single by
Emma Collins allowed Sullivan to advance to second base.
Haley Bertie singled to center field to bring Sullivan across home plate.
The Rams scored runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to come to one run behind the Warriors. Columbia International continued to push ahead as a run in the bottom of the sixth allowed them to tie the Warriors 10-10.
In the top of the seventh inning with one out and
Addi Johnson on first base, Johnson stole second.
Emmy Copeland reached on an error by the catcher. Copeland then stole second to put two runners in scoring position. An error by the shortstop allowed
Savannah Huff to reach and then advance to second. Both Copeland and Johnson were allowed to score on the play. With two outs,
Emma Jo Wolfe singled to center field to bring Huff home. A single by
Mary Sullivan allowed Wolfe to come home and give the Warriors a 14-10 run lead.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Varsity Field on February 23 as they host the Catawba Indians at 1 and 3 p.m. The Warriors will then travel to Young Harris, GA on March 10 to take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions. They will then open up Conference Carolinas action on the road as they travel to Tigerville, SC to take on the North Greenville Crusaders.
