Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan defeated the Emmanuel Lions in a 75-72 final score on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors shot 49.1% from the field and were 40% from beyond the arc in the victory over the Lions.
Ta'Jay Dunlap led the team with 26 points. Dunlap was followed by
Demarcus Addie with 13 points.
Julian Cameron had 11 points and
Tranard Ferrell had 10. Southern Wesleyan had 11 assists with Addie leading the team with six.
Southern Wesleyan had 32 rebounds with
Demarcus Addie leading the team with nine. Behind Addie both
Tranard Ferrell and
Solomon Smith had five rebounds. The Warriors had five blocks during the game with Addie leading the team with two. Southern Wesleyan stole the ball eight times.

How It Happened
The Warriors took the first points of the game as
Demarcus Addie stole the ball away and charged down the court to lay it up to give Southern Wesleyan a 2-0 advantage. Southern Wesleyan continued to extend their lead as
Tranard Ferrell and Addie each made baskets. A three point shot by Kelvin Jones allowed the Lions to cut the Warriors lead in half. Back-to-back shots by Ferrell put the Warriors ahead by five points.
Quinian Rieves stepped beyond the arc and made a three pointer to extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to 15-7. A three point shot by Tyonn Stuckey put the Lions within five points, but the Warriors would not relent as Addie and
Davion Bradford made jump shots to give the Warriors a 21-12 point lead with just over eleven minutes left in the first half. Emmanuel continued to challenge, but a three point shot by
Julian Cameron extended Southern Wesleyan's lead to eight points. A last second layup by
Ta'Jay Dunlap put the Warriors ahead 35-29.
Emmanuel came within four of Southern Wesleyan on free throw baskets by Brandon Simpson. However, a layup by
Solomon Smith allowed the Warriors to take a six point lead. Kelvin Jones laid the ball up to put the Lions down 39-33 behind the Warriors. However, back-to-back layups by
Solomon Smith and
Quinian Rieves extended the Warriors lead to ten points. The Lions and Jones would not relent as they scored five more points to put them within five points of the Warriors.
Ta'Jay Dunlap and
Julian Cameron both made three point shots to put the Warriors lead at 50-41 with just over eleven minutes remaining. The Lions continued to chip away until a three point shot by Tyonn Stuckey put the Lions within one point of the Warriors. Emmanuel took the lead, but a layup by Rieves allowed the Warriors to get back on top by one point. The Lions and Warriors continued to battle it out, but a three pointer by
Ta'Jay Dunlap allowed the Warriors to win the game 75-72.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on February 19 as they host the Converse Valkyries at 4 p.m. They will then host the Erskine Flying Fleet on February 22 at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors will then wrap up the regular season on the road as they travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders at 7 p.m.
