How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan took the first points of the game on a jump shot out of the hands of Demarcus Addie.  Chowan countered with a three point shot by Jay Estime, but free throw baskets by Quinian Rieves allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the game back up at four points apiece.  The Warriors took the lead back on a jump shot by Davion Bradford and a three pointer by Demarcus Addie with just over thirteen minutes left on the clock.  The Hawks continued to challenge back, but each challenge was met by a new offensive by the Warriors to keep the lead in their hands.  Davion Bradford collected a stolen ball by Julian Cameron and laid it up on a fast break to give Southern Wesleyan a three point lead.  Back-to-back baskets by Solomon Smith and Cameron extended the Warriors' lead to seven points.  The Hawks countered with baskets of their own, but Cameron sunk a three to keep Southern Wesleyan ahead by six.  A last second layup by Ta'Jay Dunlap put the Warriors ahead 36-28 at halftime.

The Warriors kicked off the second half with a layup by Ta'Jay Dunlap to extend their lead to ten points.  The Hawks continued to challenge the Warriors attacks as Jay Estime made a three pointer, but jump shots by Tranard Ferrell pushed Southern Wesleyan's lead to eleven points.  RJ Wilson sunk a jump shot to cut into the Warriors' leads, but jump shots by Demarcus Addie and Julian Cameron allowed the Southern Wesleyan lead to be extended to 11 points.  Chowan would not go down quietly as a three pointer by Xavier Young and jump shot by Christian Koonce allowed the Hawks to come to eight points behind the Warriors.  Julian Cameron stepped beyond the arc to sink another three point shot and make the score 57-49.  The Warriors continued to shut down the Hawks scoring runs to prevent them from pulling past.  Layups by Solomon Smith allowed the Warriors to take an 11-point lead with just over three minutes remaining in the half.  Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game 75-67.
