Murfreesboro, NC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Chowan Hawks in a 75-67 final score on Saturday evening.
The Warriors shot 46.6% from the field and were 34.6% from beyond the arc.
Julian Cameron led the team with 18 points.
Demarcus Addie and
Ta'Jay Dunlap followed Cameron in the scoring. Addie recorded 17 points and Dunlap had 14. Southern Wesleyan collected 17 assists. Cameron, Dunlap and
Tranard Ferrell each had four assists during the game.
Defensively, the Warriors collected 41 rebounds.
Quinian Rieves led the team with 13 rebounds while
Demarcus Addie followed with 10. Addie's 10 rebounds and 17 points gave him a double-double in the victory. The Warriors went on to have four blocks with Addie leading the team with two. Southern Wesleyan collected four steals.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan took the first points of the game on a jump shot out of the hands of
Demarcus Addie. Chowan countered with a three point shot by Jay Estime, but free throw baskets by
Quinian Rieves allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the game back up at four points apiece. The Warriors took the lead back on a jump shot by
Davion Bradford and a three pointer by
Demarcus Addie with just over thirteen minutes left on the clock. The Hawks continued to challenge back, but each challenge was met by a new offensive by the Warriors to keep the lead in their hands.
Davion Bradford collected a stolen ball by
Julian Cameron and laid it up on a fast break to give Southern Wesleyan a three point lead. Back-to-back baskets by
Solomon Smith and Cameron extended the Warriors' lead to seven points. The Hawks countered with baskets of their own, but Cameron sunk a three to keep Southern Wesleyan ahead by six. A last second layup by
Ta'Jay Dunlap put the Warriors ahead 36-28 at halftime.
The Warriors kicked off the second half with a layup by
Ta'Jay Dunlap to extend their lead to ten points. The Hawks continued to challenge the Warriors attacks as Jay Estime made a three pointer, but jump shots by
Tranard Ferrell pushed Southern Wesleyan's lead to eleven points. RJ Wilson sunk a jump shot to cut into the Warriors' leads, but jump shots by
Demarcus Addie and
Julian Cameron allowed the Southern Wesleyan lead to be extended to 11 points. Chowan would not go down quietly as a three pointer by Xavier Young and jump shot by Christian Koonce allowed the Hawks to come to eight points behind the Warriors.
Julian Cameron stepped beyond the arc to sink another three point shot and make the score 57-49. The Warriors continued to shut down the Hawks scoring runs to prevent them from pulling past. Layups by
Solomon Smith allowed the Warriors to take an 11-point lead with just over three minutes remaining in the half. Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game 75-67.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on February 14 as they travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on the Emmanuel Lions at 6 p.m. They will then host the Lions of Emmanuel College on February 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors will then host the Converse Valkyries on February 19 at 4 p.m.
