Newberry, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Newberry Wolves on Friday evening in a 13-4 final score.
Southern Wesleyan collected five hits in the loss to Newberry. Both
Will Pitts and
Parker Pillsbury doubled in the game. Pitts led the team with three of the four RBIs they collected.
Chance Fogel and
Dawson Posick were the lone Warriors to walk in the game. Fogel and
DJ Ludwick stole bases.
Aaron Bennett started the first game of the series against the Newberry Wolves on Friday. Bennett pitched four innings and struck out two batters.
Devyn Bond came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors. Bond pitched four innings while striking out two batters.

How It Happened
Newberry charged out of the gates as they brought runs in to score in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings.
The Warriors countered in the top of the eighth inning. With one out,
Jordan Montgomery reached first on a fielding error. A walk to
Dawson Posick allowed Montgomery to advance to second base. With two on
Dawson Gilstrap singled up the middle to load up the bases.
Will Pitts doubled to left field to bring all three runners in to score and put the Warriors behind the Wolves 13-3.
Southern Wesleyan plated one more run in the top of the ninth inning. With one out,
Ty King Richards was hit by a pitch to reach first base. A single by
Zach O'Malley allowed King Richards to move to second. However, an error on the play then allowed King Richards to move on to third base. With runners on the corners,
Jordan Montgomery reached on a fielder's choice that took O'Malley out and brought King Richards in to score. However, the Warriors fell to the Wolves 13-4.
What's Next
The Warriors will continue their series against the Newberry Wolves on February 12 at Dr. C Keith Connor Field at 1 and 4 p.m. They will then welcome the Truett-McConnell Bears to Central, SC on February 15 at 3 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will then open up Conference Carolinas action on the road as they travel to Pembroke, NC to take on the UNC Pembroke Braves on February 18 and 19.
