Cullowhee, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the exhibition game against the Western Carolina Catamounts on Friday afternoon in a 64-46 final.
The Warriors shot 26.6% from the field in the exhibition game.
Tristen Berry led the team with 12 points. She was followed by
Shelby Glance with 11 and
Brittany Mack with 10. The Warriors collected six assists with
Nyah Garner leading the team with two.
Southern Wesleyan pulled down 35 rebounds in the loss.
Shelby Glance led the Warriors with seven. She was followed by
Alexis Glover with six and
Allie Newberry with five. Glance went on to record two of the three blocks on the afternoon.
Tristen Berry stole the ball three times.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan attacked quickly as
Tristen Berry stole the ball away from the Catamounts and passed the ball down the court to
Shelby Glance. Glance got the ball down to
Brittany Mack who put up a jump shot to give the Warriors an early advantage. However, a layup by Audrey Meyers allowed Western Carolina to tie the game up shortly afterwards. The Catamounts pushed ahead as a three pointer by Jacey Justice gave them a ten point lead.
Shelby Glance sunk a three point shot to put the Warriors back within seven. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge with baskets by
Alexis Glover and
Brittany Mack.
Brittany Mack laid the ball into the basket to keep the Warriors with seven. However, a jump shot by Kyla Allison extended the Catamounts lead to 25-17. The Warriors continued to press as jump shots by
Allie Newberry,
Alexis Glover and
Shelby Glance put them back within seven. However, a layup by Joi Reid allowed Western Carolina to lead 32-24 at halftime.
The Catamounts kicked off the third quarter with a jump shot by Mya Love and a three pointer by Kyla Allison. Southern Wesleyan countered as
Brittany Mack put the ball up into the basket. Western Carolina continued to push ahead as Allison put up another lay up to extend their lead to thirteen points.

Southern Wesleyan chipped away at the Western Carolina advantage as
Tristen Berry sunk another three pointer. However, the Catamounts were not discouraged as jump shots by Joi Reid allowed them to stay ahead by seventeen. A three point basket by
Shelby Glance and layup by
Alexis Glover put the Warriors down 56-43. Glance collected a pass from
Brittany Mack and stepped beyond the arc to hit a three and put Southern Wesleyan back within twelve with just over five minutes left on the clock. However, the Catamounts went on to win the game in a 64-46 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will resume Conference Carolinas action on January 4 as they travel to Mount Olive, NC to take on the University of Mount Olive Trojans at 5 p.m. They will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on January 7 as they host the UNC Pembroke Braves. Southern Wesleyan will then travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on January 11.
