Gaffney, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in non-conference action to the Limestone Saints in an 87-72 final score on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors shot 40.7% from the field. Both
Brittany Mack and
Shelby Glance led the team with 19 points a piece. Mack went on to lead the team in assists with four. She was followed by
Alexis Glover with three. Southern Wesleyan recorded 42 rebounds with
Allie Newberry leading the team with eight. She was followed by Glover with seven and Glance with six. Glance, Newberry and Glover each had two blocks during the game. The Warriors picked up three steals.

"I was proud of how we competed in the second half. We were more consistent on the defensive, but still allowed far too many offensive rebounds. We took a step in the right direction as a team and we will keep working to be more consistent."
How It Happened
The Warriors took the first point of the game as
Shelby Glance put up a pull-up jump shot. However, a three point shot by Reagan McCray allowed Limestone to take a 3-2 point lead. A layup by
Brittany Mack allowed the Warriors to cut the Saints lead in half. McCray sunk another three to extend the Saints lead to 11-4. Mack stepped beyond the arc and took a pass from
Tristen Berry before sinking a three to put the Warriors within eight points of the Saints.
Limestone took a 30-13 point lead on a layup by Destiny Jackson.
Tristen Berry passed the ball over to
Alexis Glover. Glover laid the ball up into the basket to allow the Warriors to stay within 15-points. With just under four minutes in the second quarter,
Shelby Glance laid the ball up into the basket. Southern Wesleyan struck again seconds later as Glover passed the ball over to
Kimani Green. Green stepped over the arc to sink her first three pointer of the evening.
Brittany Mack sunk a three to put the Warriors down 42-25. Limestone countered on a pull-up jump shot by Quin Byrd. The Saints led the Warriors 47-25 at the half.
A shooting foul by the Saints allowed
Brittany Mack to come up to the line to start the third quarter. Mack made both free throws for the Warriors to get them back within twenty. Southern Wesleyan continued to push as
Shelby Glance laid the ball up into the basket. Reagan Kargo made a lay-up for the Saints.
Brooke Henricks got the ball back to Glance and she laid the ball up into the basket for the Warriors. A floating jump shot by
Brittany Mack allowed the Warriors to come up 58-38 behind the Saints. The Warriors pushed on as
Allie Newberry made a three pointer.
The Saints kicked off the fourth quarter with a layup by Kalisha Hill. Carolina Reese collected a pass from
Alexis Glover and stepped beyond the arc to sink a three point shot to put the Warriors within 16 points of Limestone. However, a three pointer by Reagan Kargo allowed them to regain their nineteen point lead. The Saints pushed ahead, but
Kimani Green countered as she put down a three point shot for the Warriors.
Brittany Mack passed the ball over to
Shelby Glance who laid it up into the basket to allow the Warriors to come to 81-59 behind the Saints with just under three minutes left on the clock. Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge as both Mack and Glover laid the ball up. With under a minute on the clock, Glance stepped beyond the arc and put the ball into the net to get the Warriors within sixteen. However, the Saints won the game in an 87-72 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will open up Conference Carolinas action on November 22 as they travel to Wilson, NC to take on the Barton Bulldogs. They will then host their home opener on November 26 as they welcome the Anderson Trojans to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium at 2 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will take on the Wofford Terriers on November 28 in exhibition action. They will then host the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on November 30.
