Coach Meneses says…

"Today's win was a terrific way to celebrate our senior day.  There was an awesome atmosphere with parents and families, friends, students, summer campers and little Warriors.  Having our game on homecoming day as well, added an extra level of enthusiasm and support.  I'm very happy for our players and especially for our seniors.  This is a day they will never forget!"

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate as Bryanna Pickens and Cayla Hughes challenged the Erskine defense with shots, but their shots each went high or wide.  They would not relent as Pickens got past the defense and scored the first goal of the afternoon for the Warriors.  The Warriors would not relent as shots by Hughes, Brooke Cash and Madi Wurst peppered the net.  However, Braeden Johnson and the Flying Fleet defense kept the Warriors from extending their lead further.  The Warriors continued to challenge as Bryanna Pickens passed the ball over to Fianna Stevens who put the ball into the net to put the Warriors ahead 2-0 at the half.

Erskine countered in the second half with a shot by Kelsey Tyson, but Southern Wesleyan defended their net to keep the Flying Fleet from getting on the board.  A foul in the box allowed the Warriors to take a penalty kick.  Bryanna Pickens sent the penalty kick into the back of the net to extend the Warriors lead to 3-0.  The Warriors maintained the intensity as Cayla Hughes passed the ball over to Karla Gordon who the ball into the net to give Southern Wesleyan a 4-0 goal lead.  Erskine challenged as Amber Elgin shot the ball to the net, but Amanda Magnin saved the attack to allow the Warriors to claim their second conference victory of the season.
