Florence, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Francis Marion Patriots on Saturday evening in a 1-0 final score.
The Warriors put up five shots with one being on goal in the loss to the Patriots.
Madi Wurst led the team with three shots. She was followed by
Karla Gordon and
Cayla Hughes with solo shots. Wurst had the lone shot on goal.
Amanda Magnin played all ninety minutes in goal and picked up three saves.

How It Happened
Francis Marion charged out of the gate as Linsey Downey and JG Garon took shots on the goal, but
Amanda Magnin and the Southern Wesleyan defense saved the attacks from meeting the net. The Warriors countered as
Madi Wurst took a shot on the goal, but it did not find the net. The Patriots pushed ahead as Alejandra Mesa put the ball into the net to give them the early lead at half.
Southern Wesleyan attacked early as
Karla Gordon took a shot to lead off the second half. However, the Francis Marion defense stayed strong to deter the attack from paying off.
Madi Wurst drove the ball to the net, but Makayla Willets got in front of the ball to collect the attack and prevent the Warriors from tying the game up. The Patriots continued to attack the net with shots by Valentina Restrepo, but the Warriors' back line stay strong. Despite a late shot by
Cayla Hughes, the Warriors dropped the conference came to the Patriots in a 1-0 final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on October 19 as they travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. They will then return to Childs Field to last their last regular season game against the UNC Pembroke Braves on October 22 at noon.
