How It Happened

Francis Marion attacked quickly on Saturday evening as Hugo Jonsson scored back-to-back goals to put them on top 2-0.  The Patriots scored once again this time off the foot of Paul Sapper.  The Warriors countered as Tipton Wright took a shot, but his shot sailed over the net to keep Southern Wesleyan from chipping into the Patriots lead.  Francis Marion would not relent their attacks as they had extended their lead to 7-0.  Trey Greenwood sent the ball toward the net, but Andrea Scapolo collected the attack to prevent the Warriors from getting on the board.  The Warriors continued to attack as Feren Nunez sent the ball to the goal, but once again Scapolo saved the attack.  The Patriots led 8-0 at the half.

The Patriots maintained their intensity in the second half as Alvaro Zamora and Jhancarlo Palma each took shots on the goal, but Will Hughes and the Warriors back line saved the attacks from meeting the net.  Pedro Fonseca sent the ball toward the net, but his attack was thwarted to keep the Warriors off the board.  Nick Huenig got around the Warriors defense and collected a pass from Luis Villarreal to score the ninth goal for Francis Marion.  Will Hughes and the Warriors stayed strong in the back line as they deterred the shots of Jose Curvelo and Villarreal.  Feren Nunez drove the ball toward the net, but Andrea Scapolo saved the attack.  The Patriots went on to win the game in a 9-0 final.
