Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the North Greenville Crusaders in double overtime on Sunday evening in a 100-93 final score.
The Warriors shot 44.2% from the field and were 31.6% from beyond the arc in the victory over the Crusaders.
Demarcus Addie led the team in the victory as he posted 25 points. Addie was followed by
Julian Cameron with 18 points,
Hunter Davis with 15 and
Ta'Jay Dunlap with 13. Southern Wesleyan had 14 assists with
Davion Bradford leading the team with five.
Southern Wesleyan collected 48 rebounds with
Tranard Ferrell leading the team with 12. The Warriors had five blocks during the game. Both
Hunter Davis and
Demarcus Addie had two blocks each.

How It Happened
Davion Bradford laid the ball up early to give the Warriors an early 2-0 lead. A jump shot by
Ta'Jay Dunlap pushed Southern Wesleyan's lead to five, but North Greenville countered with a layup by Draylan Burton put the Crusaders within three. However, back-to-back layups by Dunlap pushed the Warriors lead to 9-5. The Crusaders took the lead on a three pointer by Seth Hewitt, but a layup by
Hunter Davis allowed the Warriors to regain the lead by one point. North Greenville continued to challenge the Southern Wesleyan attacks, but a three pointer by
Demarcus Addie allowed the Warriors to maintain a one point advantage with just over eleven minutes left in the first half. The Crusaders would not relent as Jacob Redding and Mason Zick sunk a three to take the lead, but three pointers by
Julian Cameron and
Arusha Hunter allowed the game to remain tied 23-23. Southern Wesleyan regained the lead on a three pointer by Dunlap.
Davion Bradford stole the ball away from the Crusaders and dunked it into the basket to put the Warriors lead at 30-23. Three pointers by
Quinian Rieves and
Julian Cameron pushed the Warriors lead to eight points with just under two minutes left.
Demarcus Addie collected a pass off a steal by
Davion Bradford and sunk a three to allow the Warriors to have a 46-37 lead at halftime.
North Greenville took the first points of the second half on free throws by Joe Conley. They cut the Warriors lead down to five points as Conley sunk the ball into the net again. Southern Wesleyan would not let up as a three pointer by
Julian Cameron allowed the Warriors to extend their lead to 51-41 with just under seventeen minutes left. Layups by
Tranard Ferrell and Ta'Jay Dunalp put the Warriors on top by fifteen points. Seth Hewitt made a jump shot to allow the Crusaders to come within thirteen, but it was short lived as
Demarcus Addie made a jump shot to put the Warriors back on top by fifteen. The Crusaders would not relent as CJ Jamison stole the ball away and sunk a jump shot to put North Greenville behind Southern Wesleyan 66-58. Cameron raced down the court and laid the ball up into the basket to put the Warriors back on top by ten. North Greenville continued to chip away and then took a 71-70 point lead on a three point shot by Kameron Hobbs. The Crusaders would not relent as a layup by Hobbs allowed North Greenville to tie the game 74-74 to force the teams to go into overtime.
The Warriors kicked off the first overtime period with a jump shot by
Demarcus Addie. However, the Crusader tied the game back up seconds later on a layup by CJ Jamison.
Julian Cameron passed the ball over to Addie who stepped beyond the arc to put the Warriors on top 79-78. A layup by
Davion Bradford put the Warriors back ahead by two, but free throws by Jamison allowed North Greenville to tie it back up to force the teams into a second overtime period.
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the second overtime period with a jump shot by
Julian Cameron and then extended their lead to four points on a layup by
Hunter Davis. North Greenville countered with free throws of Joe Conley and Jacob Redding.
Arusha Hunter took a pass from
Hunter Davis and stepped beyond the arc to sink a three and extend the Warriors lead to 92-84. Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game in a 100-93 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will next hit the road to Florence, SC as they take on the Francis Marion Patriots on January 31 at 4 p.m. They will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on February 1 as they host the Lees-McRae Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will then travel to Wilson, NC to take on the Barton Bulldogs on February 4. They will remain on the road on February 5 as they travel to Mount Olive, NC to take on the University of Mount Olive Trojans.
