How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan took an early lead as Julian Cameron passed the ball to Ta'Jay Dunlap beyond the arc.  Dunlap sunk the three to give the Warriors an early 3-0 lead.  Lees-McRae countered moments later as Malik McConnell made a jump shot.  A three pointer by Timon Jones allowed the Bobcats to take a 7-5 point advantage, but Dunlap countered with a three of his own to put the Warriors back on top by one with just over sixteen minutes left in the half.  The Warriors continued to push ahead as both Arusha Hunter and Dunlap sunk three pointers to push Southern Wesleyan's lead to 14-9.  A jump shot by Demarcus Addie at the ten minute mark allowed the Warriors to put their lead at six points.  The Warriors would not relent as three pointers by Brendan Hoban and Addie extended the Southern Wesleyan lead to 26-17.  The Bobcats were not discouraged as Sidney Dollar dunked the ball into the basket, but the Warriors maintained the lead as Dunlap  stole the ball away and sunk a jump shot on a fast break.  With just under two minutes in the half, Julian Cameron made a jump shot and allow the Warriors to push their lead to 39-28.  Last minute shots by Dunlap allowed the Warriors to take a 45-34 point lead at the half.

The Warriors kicked off the second half with a three point shot by Ta'Jay Dunlap and then pushed further ahead as Tranard Ferrell sunk a three.  Lees-McRae countered with a three point shot by Timon Jones, but a layup by Solomon Smith allowed the Warriors to maintain a fourteen point lead with just over fifteen minutes left.  The Bobcats continued to challenge, but the Warriors would not let them cut into their lead as Davion Bradford sunk a three to put the score at 57-40.  Demarcus Addie charged down the court and sunk a jumper to give Southern Wesleyan a twenty point lead.  The Bobcats cut the Warriors lead to seventeen on a jump shot by Malik McConnell, but seconds later a jump shot by Addie pushed the Warriors' lead back up to nineteen.  Lees-McRae kept up the pressure as a layup by Jaylin Stewart allowed them to come within ten of Southern Wesleyan.  However, the Warriors were not done as Julian Cameron passed the ball over to Demarcus Addie who stepped beyond the arc and sunk a three to put the Southern Wesleyan lead at 77-62.  Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game in a 86-67 final score.
