How It Happened
Reinhardt attacked early with shots by Gus Fidler and Pavel Dashin, but the Southern Wesleyan defense stayed strong. The Warriors took the ball down the field with shots by
Diego Hernandez,
Jose Rangel and
Casey Rearley. The Eagles maintained the attack as Fidler and Dashin both scored quickly to put Reinhardt ahead 2-0 at halftime.
Southern Wesleyan came out strong in the second half as Deigo Hernandez took several shots on goal, but Niko Tzevelekos saved the ball to keep the Warriors off the board. The Warriors would not let up as
Jose Rangel and
Trey Greenwood attacked the net. However, the Reinhardt defense stayed strong to prevent their attacks from paying off. A foul allowed
Hykeem Martin to take a free kick. He sent the ball into the corner of the net to put the Warriors down 2-1. Minutes later,
Pedro Fonseca sent the ball over to the top of the box where Martin put it into the back of the net to allow Southern Wesleyan to tie the game 2-2. Reinhardt maintained the pressure, scoring a goal off the foot of Callum Lees to give the Eagles a 3-2 goal lead. Despite late shots by
Ryan Rodriguez, Martin and
Noah Koch, the Eagles went on to win the game.
