How It Happened

Carolina attacked early as Nathan Rue took a shot on goal, but Will Hughes collected the attack to keep the game tied 0-0.  Southern Wesleyan countered with a shot by Hykeem Martin, however the Bruins defense kept the ball from going on.  The Warriors continued to attack with shots by Diego Hernandez, but Jeremiah Gibbs saved the ball to keep the game tied up with zero goals apiece.  The Bruins challenged the Warriors defense with attacks on the net by Benjamin Fortuin, but Zachary Hurst and the Warriors defense continued to thwart their attacks.  A foul in the box, allowed the Warriors to take a penalty kick in front of the goal.  Feren Nunez took the shot and put the ball into the back of the net to give the Warriors a 1-0 goal advantage.  The Warriors continued to push on as Austin Snow collected the ball and drilled it into the top of the net to give the Warriors a 2-0 at the half.

The Bruins challenged in the second half as Robin Salge and Govanni Mayas took shots, but neither shot made it into the net to keep Carolina off the board.  Southern Wesleyan maintained the intensity as Trey Greenwood drove the ball to the net, but Jeremiah Gibbs dove in front of it to keep the Warriors from extending their lead further.  A foul allowed the Bruins to take a free kick in front of the box, but Mario Salinas' shot sailed high over the goal.  Carolina's attacks finally paid off as Mario Salinas put the ball into the net to put the Bruins down 2-1.  The Warriors went on to win the game in a 2-1 final score.
