Coach Quarandillo says…

"I'm proud of the guys not because of the win, but because of how they played together as a team.  They were not selfish, they worked hard for one another, and they celebrated each other's work that led to the four goals.  It's always fun to see four goals from four different players."

How It Happened

The Warriors started the game on the offensive as both Jose Rangel and Hykeem Martin took shots, but both shots missed the goal.  The Tornado countered with a shot by Ruben Laureano, but Will Hughes protected the net to keep King from taking the lead.  A foul on the baseline allowed Hykeem Martin to take a free kick.  Martin sent the ball into the net to put Southern Wesleyan on top 1-0 halfway into the first half.  The Warriors continued to push forward on shots by Noah Koch, however the Tornado would not let them extend their lead.  Despite a strong defense, King tied it up as Laureano put the ball into the net to make it 1-1 after twenty-nine minutes of play.  Despite a late shot by Trey Greenwood, the game remained tied 1-1 at the half.

Southern Wesleyan took the first shot of the second half off the foot of Noah Koch.  They remained on the offensive as Feren Nunez took a shot on the goal, but Dalton Gammon saved the ball to keep the Warriors from regaining the lead.  The Warriors continued the attack as Diego Hernandez collected the ball and put it into the low right corner to allow Southern Wesleyan to regain the lead.  King countered with shots by Ty Trikones and Ben Dalglish, but Will Hughes and the Warriors defense stayed strong to keep the Tornado from tying the game back up.  The Warriors kept up the intensity as Tyler Zoucha took a shot on goal that Dalton Gammon saved, however Jose Rangel collected the rebound and passed the ball to Feren Nunez who put it into the goal to extend Southern Wesleyan's lead to 3-1.  Hykeem Martin looked for his second goal of the afternoon, but his shot rebounded off the post.  However, Noah Koch collected the rebounded ball and buried the shot in the upper left to put the Warriors ahead 4-1 with under a minute left to play to win the game.
