Banner Elk, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the Conference Carolinas match-up with the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Tuesday evening in a 3-0 final.
The Warriors collected 19 kills in the loss to the Bobcats with
Amber Bass leading the team with eight. Southern Wesleyan had 17 assists with
Cara Martin leading the team with six.
Kali Letcher, Martin and
Addison Boggs all recorded services aces.
Riley Young was involved in all four of the Warriors blocks of the evening. Defensively, the Warriors had 36 digs with Bass collecting 13 of them.

How It Happened
Set One
Lees-McRae took an early 2-0 lead on kills by Olivia Ney before the Warriors were able to get on the board. However, the Bobcats continued to press ahead with several more kills before
Ashlyn Holford put down a kill for Southern Wesleyan to put the Warriors behind the Bobcats 4-10. An ace by
Cara Martin and a kill by
Emily Ellis kept the Warriors within seven and made the score 13-20. However, Lees-McRae took the first set 25-17.
Set Two
The Bobcats took the first points, but the Warriors tied it up shortly. However, Lees-McRae pushed ahead on several service aces by Madison Goins. Kills by
Ashlyn Holford and
Amber Bass allowed the Warriors to come within three of the Bobcats. Southern Wesleyan challenged Lees-McRae to stay within six on kills by
Amber Bass and
Tiyonnah Brown, however the Bobcats went on to win the set 25-17.
Set Three
A kill by Hailey Gilreath put the Bobcats on the board early on in the third set, but Southern Wesleyan countered with a kill by
Amber Bass to tie it up. Kills by Bass and
Addison Boggs allowed the Warriors to stay within one of the Bobcats. However, Lees-McRae pushed ahead on blocks by Gilreath and Kaden Hill. The Warriors countered with kills by Bass and Boggs to come within five. Despite blocks by
Tiyonnah Brown and
Riley Young, the Warriors dropped the final set 25-17.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on October 1 as they host the Converse Valkyries at 7 p.m. They will travel to Bristol, TN to take on the King Tornado on October 2 at 2 p.m. The Warriors will then host the Erskine Flying fleet on October 5 before travel to the University of Mount Olive on October 8 and UNC Pembroke on October 9.
