How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate as Bryanna Pickens took a shot, but it went out left.  The Warriors continued to push ahead as Mallory Butler sent the ball up to Cayla Hughes.  Hughes put the ball into the top of the net to give the Warriors a 1-0 goal lead just two minutes into the game.  Barton countered with a goal by Hailey Russell to allow the Bulldogs to tie the game up.  The Bulldogs put in a second goal off the foot of Lexis Goldberg to give Barton a 2-1 lead at the half.

The Warriors continued to challenge in the second half, looking to take the lead with shots by Cayla Hughes, Joy Namyst and Bryanna Pickens, but the Bulldogs thwarted their attacks.  Southern Wesleyan did not let up as Madi Wurst and Maria Ramos each drilled the ball to the net, but Rachel Cox kept the Warriors from cutting into the Bulldog lead.  Barton scored their final goal of the afternoon off the foot of Goldberg.  Despite shots by Joy Namyst and Natalie Thompson, the Bulldogs went on to win the game 3-1.
