Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped their first Conference Carolinas game of the season against the North Greenville Crusaders in a 3-0 final.
The Warriors had 22 kills in the loss to the Crusaders.
Amber Bass led the Warriors with nine kills. She was followed by
Ashlyn Holford with five. Both
Emily Ellis and
Riley Young had two blocks.
Cara Martin led the team with eight of the Warriors 22 assists.
Kristina Pino recorded 13 digs.

How It Happened
Set One
Southern Wesleyan jumped out early with a kill by
Amber Bass, but back-to-back kills by Abigail Durham allowed the Crusaders to take the lead. The Warriors fought back with kills by
Ashlyn Holford and
Tiyonnah Brown, but North Greenville maintained their attacks as blocks by Kelli Davis and Kasie Thomas allowed them to keep the first set close. The Crusaders would not let up with kills by Durham and Erin Allen, but kills by Brown and Bass kept the Warriors in striking distance. However, a kill by Allen allowed the Crusaders to take the first set 25-15.
Set Two
The Warriors took the first points of the second set on kills by
Amber Bass. Kills by
Ashlyn Holford allowed Southern Wesleyan to stay ahead of North Greenville. The Crusaders fought back as Abigail Durham and Paige Beisecker each laid down kills. However, the Warriors countered with a kill off the hands of
Riley Young. Despite a late block by
Tiyonnah Brown and
Riley Young, North Greenville won the second set 25-14.
Set Three
North Greenville took the first point, but blocks by
Trinity Eichman and
Riley Young allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the set up 1-1. However, kills by Kelli Davis and Whitley Kahler allowed North Greenville to take the lead. The Warriors countered with kills by
Amber Bass. However, the Crusaders went on a run to win the game 25-6.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next hit the road to Banner Elk, NC on September 28 as they take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats at 7 p.m. They will then return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on October 1 to host the Converse Valkyries at 7 p.m. The Warriors will then travel to King University on October 2 to take on the Tornado.
