How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate as Bryanna Pickens took a shot on the goal, but it went wide right.  The Crusaders countered with several shots on goal, but Samantha Benner got in the way of every shot to make sure Belmont Abbey would not pull ahead and keep the game 0-0 at half.

The Crusaders maintained the intensity in the second half with shots by Tatiana Daugherty and Callen Johnson, but Benner and the Warriors defense stayed strong to keep them off the board.  Southern Wesleyan countered with a shot by Joy Namyst, but the ball went left of the net.  Benner and the defense continued to deflect every attack to keep the game 0-0 at the end of regulation.

Belmont Abbey peppered the next in the next two overtime periods, but Southern Wesleyan would not be deterred as they continued to deflect the attacks.  Molly Wanning attempted to put a shot in on the last second of the final overtime period, but the Crusaders got in the way of the shot to end the game in a 0-0 tie.
