Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan challenges North Greenville in 3-1 loss to the Crusaders on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors had 10 shots and five shots on goals in the loss.
Joy Namyst led the team with three shots. Namyst was followed by
Bryanna Pickens and
Hayleigh Von Ins with two. Both Pickens and Von Ins had two shots on goal. Pickens had her first goal of the season and
Mallory Butler recorded an assist.
Taylor Hanzel played all ninety minutes in goal for the Warriors, collecting 12 saves.

How It Happened
North Greenville charged out of the gate with shots by Emma Shearer, Faith Knoedler and Alyssa Mendez, but
Taylor Hanzel and the Warriors defense countered there every attack to keep the Crusaders off the board. Southern Wesleyan countered with shots on goal by
Bryanna Pickens, but the Crusaders deflected the shots. The Crusaders maintained the pressure, but the Warriors would not be deterred. Despite multiple attacks on both side the game was 0-0 at halftime.
The Warriors took the first shot of the second half off the foot of
Joy Namyst, but the Crusaders countered with shots by Knoedler. Despite back-to-back shots on goal by
Hayleigh Von Ins, North Greenville took the first goal of the game off the foot of Ansley Robinson. The Crusaders maintained the pressure with a goal by Knoedler. Southern Wesleyan were not discouraged as
Mallory Butler took a free kick for the Warriors and sent it into the net.
Bryanna Pickens collected the shot and fired it into the net to put the Warriors down 2-1. Despite a strong defensive stand, the Crusaders scored once more to win the game 3-1.

Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the regular season on April 9 as they travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders 7 p.m.
