Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Barton Bulldogs in a 15-6 final score on Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors had 27 shots and 20 shots on goal in the loss to the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
Amy Pfefferkorn led the team with nine shots on goal while
Tabitha Beecher followed with five. Beecher led the team with two goals scored. Both
Betsy Bovee and Beecher had assists.
Southern Wesleyan recorded 16 draw controls with
Jairy Sandoval leading the team with 12. The Warriors caused 15 turnovers. Sandoval led the team with five.
Kaeleigh McDaniel played all sixty minutes in goal and had 14 saves. McDaniel led the team in groundballs with 10.

How It Happened
Barton struck first as they got around Southern Wesleyan's defense to take a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jayden Smith just over a minute into the game. The Warriors countered with shots by
Amy Pfefferkorn, but Katherine Mattena kept Pfefferkorn from put the Warriors on the board. The Bulldogs continued to push ahead despite shots by
Tabitha Beecher as both Angelina Scarpa and Ashley Teilborg scored to put Barton ahead 3-0. Trailing by eight, Southern Wesleyan was not discouraged as
Tabitha Beecher broke away from the pack to put the ball into the back of the cage to put the Warriors down seven. Seconds later,
Betsy Bovee collected a pass from Beecher to put Southern Wesleyan down 8-2 at the half.
Barton maintained the attack as Smith got the ball to Samantha Diaz to give the Bulldogs a 9-2 goal lead. Southern Wesleyan continued to pressure Barton with shots on goal by Pfefferkorn and Beecher, but the Bulldogs would not let their attacks pay off. The Bulldogs pushed ahead on goals by Scarpa to make it a running clock, but a goal by
Jocelyn Cosgrove allowed Southern Wesleyan to get back to within ten.
Jairy Sandoval got around the Barton defense to put Southern Wesleyan down 13-4 with just over elven minutes remaining in the half. Despite late goals by Beecher and Pfefferkorn, the Warriors dropped the game 15-6.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on April 10 as they host the University of Mount Olive Trojans at noon. They will then welcome the Converse Valkyries to Central, SC and Childs Field on April 12 at 7 p.m. as they honor their seniors. The Warriors will remain at home on April 14 to take on the Newberry Wolves before closing out the regular season on the road in Cleveland, TN to take on the Lee Flames.
