Coach Schneider says…
"We played well as a team.  Defense had some amazing stops down there.  We were able to control many of the draw controls and get possession of the ball.  Betsy Bovee had her best game on offense.  Breaking two school records, most goals scored and most post scored in a game.  Haylee Cureton was jumping all over the place getting interceptions.  It was a great team win.  Very exciting."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan attacked early, but their attacks were thwarted by the Bobcats of Lees-McRae.  The Bobcats would not let up as they scored the first goal of the game on a free position attempt by Madi Barry.  The Warriors countered seconds later to tie it up as Amy Pfefferkorn put the ball into the back of the cage.  Southern Wesleyan maintained the attack as Betsy Bovee took a pass from Jocelyn Cosgrove and put it into the cage to give the Warriors a 2-1 advantage.  A second goal by Bovee a minute later allowed the Warriors extend their lead.  With seventeen minutes left to play in the first half, Cosgrove scored her first goal of the game off a pass from Bovee to give Southern Wesleyan a 4-1 goal lead.  Goals by Tabitha Beecher and Pfefferkorn allowed the Warriors to distance themselves further from the Bobcats.  Bovee got around the Bobcat defenders and took a pass from Kelsey Hawkins, drilling it into the back of the cage to give the Warriors a 7-1 lead.  A goal by Yael Echeverria allowed the Warriors to top the Bobcats by seven.  Beecher broke away from the pack and got around the defenders to score her second goal of the afternoon and give the Warriors a 9-1 lead at the half.

Lees-McRae scored their second goal of the game with twenty-three minutes remaining in the second half as Madi Barry put the ball into the cage.  The Warriors countered shortly afterwards as Bovee scored a free position goal to give Southern Wesleyan an eight goal advantage.  However, the Bobcats countered with a goal by Sydney Floyd to put them back within seven.  Back-to-back goals by Bovee allowed the Warriors to take a 12-4 goal lead.  The Bobcats countered again, but Bovee scored her seventh goal of the game to give the Warriors a nine goal lead.  Southern Wesleyan maintained the pressure as Bovee scored twice more to give the Warriors a 15-5 victory over the Bobcats.
