Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan swept the Converse Valkyries on Friday afternoon in 6-0 and 4-0 final scores.
The Warriors collected nine hits in game one with both
Addi Johnson and Lydai Clanton recording two hits apiece.
Savannah Huff,
Megan New and Clanton all doubled during the game. Clanton led the Warriors with three RBIs while Huff followed with two. Southern Wesleyan walked seven times, and three Warriors stole bases.
Delanie Laudenbacher pitched a complete game for the Warriors, striking out seven batters while only allowing four hits.
The Warriors recorded five hits in the second game of the day with
Ashton Martin leading with two.
Emma Collins had the lone walk, and the Warriors had five stolen bases. Collins led the team with two stolen bases. She was followed by
Delaney Byers,
Addi Johnson and
Lydia Clanton each with one stolen base.
Ashton Martin started game two, striking out six batters over five innings.
Megan Vaughn, Collins and
Delanie Laudenbacher all came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
Game One
Southern Wesleyan struck early in game one of the series. With one out,
Savannah Huff walked and then advanced to second on a single to left center by
Emma Collins.
Addi Johnson laid down a bunt single to load up the bases. With the bases loaded,
Lydia Clanton doubled to right center to bring all three runners in to score and put the Warriors on top 3-0.
The Warriors extended their lead in the bottom of the second inning.
Addie Nugent led off with a single through the left side and then stole second base to get into scoring position.
Delaney Byers followed with a walk to put two on with one out.
Savannah Huff then doubled to right center to bring both Byers and Nugent in and give Southern Wesleyan a 5-0 run lead.
Southern Wesleyan plated one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Megan New led off with a walk and then reached second on a passed ball. A bunt single by
Addi Johnson allowed New to advance to third. While the Valkyries attempted to thwart Johnson from stealing, the catcher over threw the second baseman and allow New to come in to allow the Warriors to win the game 6-0.
Game Two
The Warriors took the first run of the second game of the day.
Ashton Martin led off with a single to third base and then, with
Claire Ellison pinch running,
Addie Nugent laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Ellison to second.
Delaney Byers reached first on an error to bring Ellison in to score and put Southern Wesleyan on top 1-0.
Southern Wesleyan maintained the offensive in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out,
Emma Collins walked and then stole back-to-back bases to put her in scoring position.
Addi Johnson laid down a bunt single and then stole second to put both runners in scoring position. A bunt single by
Lydia Clanton allowed Collins to come in and score to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.
Lydia Clanton then stole second base to put both her and Johnson in scoring position. A bunt single by
Ashton Martin allowed Johnson to score.
Addie Nugent hit into a fielder's choice to bring Clanton home and give the Warriors a 4-0 run victory.
