Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan split the Conference Carolinas doubleheader against the Erskine Flying Fleet on Wednesday. The Warriors won the first game in a 4-2 final before dropping the second game 14-3.
The Warriors recorded seven hits in the first game. Both
Parker Pillsbury and
Ty King Richards doubled. Pillsbury led the Warriors with two of the four RBIs.
Tanner Glass walked and
DJ Ludwick had a stolen base.
TJ McEvilly pitched all seven innings and struck out six batters in the win.
Southern Wesleyan had five hits in game two of the afternoon.
Sawyer Price doubled in the loss. Three Warriors walked, and both
Josh Galloway and
Nolan Steevens were hit by pitches.
Ryan Moore started game two, striking out two batters over three innings pitched. Aiden Evans,
Andrew Patterson,
Sandy Johnson and
Aaron Wimpey came in to pitch in relief for Southern Wesleyan.

How It Happened
Game One
Southern Wesleyan took the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. With one out,
Sean Sutay singled to center field and then advanced to second a wild pitch. With two out and Sutay in scoring position,
Tanner Glass singled through the right side to bring Sutay home.
Josh Galloway followed with a single to left field to advance Glass to second. With two on and two out,
Parker Pillsbury doubled to right center field to allow both Galloway and Glass to come in to score.
Sawyer Price followed with a single to left center that allowed Pillsbury to score to give the Warriors a 4-0 run lead.
Erskine countered with a home run by Drew Yniesta in the top of the fourth, and then a second run came in to score in the top of the seventh. However,
TJ McEvilly and the Warriors defense remained strong to give Southern Wesleyan the game one victory.
Game Two
The Warriors scored first in the second game of the afternoon in the bottom of the second inning. With one out,
Sawyer Price doubled to left center.
Ty King Richards singled to right center to bring Price home to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. With two out,
Dawson Gilstrap walked to put two runners on.
Sean Sutay followed with a single to left field to bring King Richards in, and then a singled by Chance Fogal allowed Gilstrap to come home to put the Warriors ahead 3-0.
Erskine countered in the top of the third to bring two runners in to score. The Flying Fleet remained on the offensive in the top of the fourth to tie the game 3-3 off a single by Cal Bochino. They then took the lead in the top of the sixth as they brought four runs in to give them a 7-3 run lead. They went on to win the game in a 14-3 final as they brought seven runs in to score in the seventh.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on April 16 and 17 as they take on the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles. They will then take on the Anderson Trojans on April 20 at 6 p.m. The Warriors will close out the regular season on April 21 as they host the Erskine Flying Fleet at Dr. C Keith Connor Field.
