Southern Wesleyan swept doubles action against the Crusaders on Tuesday. Senior
Noemi Aguirre and freshman
Camille Cunningham picked up the first doubles win as they defeated Makena Newsome and Merit Morgan in the No. 3 position in a 6-0 final. They were followed by
Maria Aspasia Kotsiou and
Natalie White with a 6-0 victory over Jhovana Brena and Naomi Sakakibara in the No. 2 Doubles slot.
Ameek Batth and
Anya King wrapped up the doubles scores as the team of Larissa Berger and Mitzy Enderink challenged forced the No. 1 Doubles teams to go to extras, but the Warriors won out in a 7-5 final.
Ameek Batth led off for the Warriors in singles action as she challenged Larissa Berger to force three sets. Batth dropped the first 3-6, before winning second 6-2 to force a deciding set. She went on to win the final one 1-0 (10-3).
Anya King was challenged by Jhovana Brena, but King would not give up as she won her singles match in 7-5 and 7-6 final scores. In the No. 3 Singles position,
Maria Aspasia Kotsiou defeated Mitzy Enderink 6-0 and 7-6. Both
Noemi Aguirre and
Camille Cunningham won their singles match-ups in 6-3 and 6-2 final scores.
Natalie White wrapped up the victories for the Warriors as she defeated Makena Newsome with a pair of 6-0 finals.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on April 16 and 17 as they wrap up the regular season. The Warriors will travel to Banner Elk, NC on April 16 to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats at noon. They will then travel to Bristol, TN to take on the King Tornado on April 17.
