Mount Olive, NC – Southern Wesleyan was swept by the University of Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon in 3-1 and 4-1 final scores.
The Warriors collected nine hits in the first game with
Lydia Clanton leading the team with three hits.
Emma Collins doubled during the game. Two Warriors walked, and both
Delaney Byers and
Emma Jo Wolfe stole bases.
Delanie Laudenbacher started the first game of the day and pitched 1.2 innings before
Megan Vaughn came in to pitch in relief.
Southern Wesleyan had six hits in the second game of the afternoon. Both
Megan New and
Lydia Clanton had two hits. New had a double during the game.
Ashton Martin had the lone RBI. The Warriors walked three batters in the game, both New and Clanton were hit by pitches.
Delanie Laudenbacher started the second game with both
Ashton Martin and
Emma Collins came to pitch in relief. Collins had four strikeouts during the game.

How It Happened
Game One
Mount Olive struck first in game one of the doubleheader as a sacrifice fly allowed Cooney to score to put them on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the second inning.
Lydia Clanton led off with a single and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Ashton Martin. A bunt single by
Emma Jo Wolfe put runners on the corners. An error by the catcher allowed Clanton to come home to tie the game 1-1.
The Trojans continued to pressure the Warriors defense as they brought two more runs in to take a 3-1 run lead in the bottom of the second inning and win the first game of the series
Game Two
The Trojans took the early lead in the bottom of the first inning off a passed ball and single by Emanuele to take a 3-0 lead.
Southern Wesleyan put their first run on the board in the top of the fourth inning.
Addi Johnson led off with a walk and then advanced to second as
Lydia Clanton singled to center field. With two on,
Ashton Martin laid down a sacrifice bunt that allowed Johnson to come home to put the Warriors behind the Trojans 3-1.
The University of Mount Olive went on to win the game in a 4-1 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to Varsity Field on April 16 as they host the Converse Valkyries at 4 and 6 p.m. They will then wrap up the regular season in Due West, SC on April 17 as they take on the Erskine Flying Fleet.
