Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the final two games of the series against the Barton Bulldogs in 3-2 and 11-9 final scores on Saturday.
The Warriors recorded eight hits in the first game of the day with both
Tanner Glass and
Dawson Posick each having two. Two Warriors walked during the game. Glass started the first game of the day, pitching five innings while striking out two batters.
Aaron Bennett came in to pitch in relief.
Southern Wesleyan had 10 hits in the second game.
Chance Fogel homered in the game and
Sean Sutay doubled.
Josh Galloway led the team with three of the seven RBIs. Both Fogel and
Tanner Glass followed with two RBIs. Seven Warriors walked and four stole bases in the game two loss.
Devyn Bond started the second game, pitching seven innings and struck out two batters.
Aaron Bennett came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
Game One
Barton took the first run of game one as a double by Creech doubled to left center to bring Frey in to give the Bulldogs a one run advantage. They extended their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Southern Wesleyan would not go down easily as they fought back in the top of the sixth inning. With one out,
Sawyer Price singled to center field and then advanced to second on a walk to
Dawson Posick.
Nolan Steevens and
Dawson Gilstrap came in to pinch run for both base runners. With two outs,
Ty King Richards singled to left field to bring Steevens home.
Sean Sutay followed with a single to right center to bring Gilstrap in to score to tie the game 2-2.
However, a walk-off singled by Robinson allowed the Bulldogs to take the first game 3-2.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan started strong in game two as
DJ Ludwick reached first on a single and then advanced to second on a fielding error in left field. With Ludwick at second,
Chance Fogel hit a home run over the right field wall to bring Ludwick in and give the Warriors a 2-0 run lead.
The Bulldogs tied the game up on a two run home run by Ptitchett in the bottom of the second inning. They took the lead later in the inning on a singles by Ford and Olson to take a 4-2 run lead over the Warriors.
The Warriors began to chip away at the Bulldogs lead in the top of the third inning.
Chance Fogel led off with a walk and then stole second base. With one out and one runner in scoring position,
Josh Galloway was hit by a pitch. A fly out by
Parker Pillsbury allowed Fogel to advance to third base, and then a wild pitch advanced Galloway to second.
Sawyer Price then walked to load up the bases. A second wild pitch allowed Fogel to score to put Southern Wesleyan down 3-4.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Warriors regained the lead. With one out,
Sean Sutay reached first on catcher's interference and then advanced to second on a walk to
DJ Ludwick. Both Sutay and Ludwick stole bases to put them both in scoring position.
Tanner Glass walked to load up the bases and bring up
Josh Galloway. Galloway singled to left field to allow both Sutay and Ludwick to come in and put the Warriors ahead 5-4.
The Bulldogs tied the game back up in the bottom of the seventh inning as a ground out by Creech allowed Edior to come in and put the score at 5-5.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the eighth inning. With one out,
Ty King Richards walked and then advanced to third on a single by
Sean Sutay. A passed ball allowed King Richards to come in and score to give the Warriors a 6-5 run lead.
DJ Ludwick followed with a walk and then
Dawson Posick was hit by a pitch to load up the bases. With the bases loaded,
Tanner Glass singled to right field to allow both Ludwick and Sutay in to score. A sacrifice fly out by
Josh Galloway brought Posick in to give the Warriors a 9-5 run lead.
However, Barton came back in the bottom of the ninth inning to score six runs and give them an 11-9 run victory.
How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan will return home on April 13 as they host the Anderson Trojans at 6 p.m. They will remain at home on April 16-17 as they host the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles at Dr. C Keith Connor Field. They will then wrap up the regular season on April 23-24 as they take on the Erskine Flying Fleet.
