Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan claims several top place finishes as they host the first outdoor track and field meet of the season in the annual Susan Rouse Invitational.
 

How It Happened

Track Results
100 Meters :  Kayla Achenbach led the Warriors in the 100 Meters as she finished with a time of 12.64 to put her second place.  She was followed by Carrie Barton in ninth with a time of 13.04.  Miriam Ross finished in 23^rd with a time of 14.13.

200 Meters : Kayla Achenbach led the whole field in the 200 Meters as she finished in first with a time of 25.54.  Behind Achenbach, Carmen DeVries took 12^th with a time of 27.02. and Lycia Zavala took 22^nd with a time of 27.83.  Blessing Laudermilich finished in 26^th with a time of 28.09.  Meshayla Maddox wrapped up the field for the Warriors in the 200 Meters as she finished in 35^th with a time of 29.26.

400 Meters : The Warriors were led by Jami Wright and Michele Beugre in the 400 meters.  Wright finished in second with a time of 56.09 and Beugre finished behind her in third with a time of 57.36.  Lycia Zavala finished in 12^th with a time of 1:02.54 and Alana Edwards finished in 34^th with a time of 1:12.24.

800 Meters : In the 800 Meters, Taylor Broadwell finished in ninth with a time of 2:27.76.  Broadwell was followed by Hattie Pitts in 24^th with a time of 2:40.64 and Abbey Frock in 28^th with a time of 2:44.03.  Julia Reeves finished in 30^th with a time of 2:44.37.

1500 Meters : Kyra Hood led the Warriors in the 1500 Meters as she finished in ninth with a time of 5:13.01.  Madison Lewellen followed her in 14^th as she crossed the finish line with a time of 5:16.14.  Gisselle Lopez and Alison Dickson were the next two Warriors to finish.  Lopez took 34^th with a time of 5:46.83 and Dickson finished in 40^th with a time of 6:00.83.  Caroline Lamb finished in 47^th with a time of 6:35.38 and Abril Alfaro wrapped up the field in 52^nd with a time of 7:39.92.

5000 Meters : Abbey Frock finished in 13^th with a time of 20:30.05.

100 Meter Hurdles :  Freshman Meshayla Maddox took eighth place in the 100 Meter Hurdles as she finished with a time of 17.85.

400 Meter Hurdles : Keyanna Williams led the Warriors as she finished the 400 meter hurdles in second place with a time of 1:08.39.

4x400 Meter Relay : Southern Wesleyan had three teams compete in the 4x400 Meter Relay on Saturday afternoon.  The A Team of Carrie Barton, Michele Beugre, Carmen DeVries and Jami Wright took first place with a finish time of 3:54.75.  The Be Team of Blessing Laudermilich, Lycia Zavala, Lauryn Tate and Keyanna Williams followed in third place with a time of 4:11.10.  Southern Wesleyan's C Team of Taylor Broadwell, Madison Lewellen, Sydney Palmer and Abbey Frock wrapped up the field for the Warriors as they took seventh with a time of 4:32.40.
 
Field Results
High Jump : Senior Paige Peterson led the Warriors in the high jump as she finished in third place with a jump of 1.55 meters.

Pole Vault : In the pole vault, senior Haley McLaughlin finished in fourth after he vaulted 3.05 meters.

Long Jump : Blessing Laudermilich led the Warriors in the Women's Long Jump.  Her jump of 4.67 meters allowed her to finish in 10^th place.

Triple Jump : Grace Chen finished in eighth with a jump of 9.29 meters.

Shot Put : Senior Kelsie Smith led the team in the shot put as her throw of 11.76 meters allowed her to finish in fourth place.  Smith was followed by Hannah Johnson in tenth with a throw of 9.61 meters and Taylee Grimes in 22^nd with a throw of 7.61 meters.

Discus : Hannah Johnson led the Warriors in the discus as she threw a distance of 33.63 meters to put her in ninth.  Johnson was followed by fellow freshman Hannah Hall in 15^th with a throw of 31.59 meters.

Hammer Throw : Kelsie Smith finished in first place in the Hammer Throw as she threw a distance of 48.68 meters.  Smith was followed by Hannah Hall in 16^th with a throw of 29.50 meters.

Javelin : In the javelin, Chloe Foster finished in fifth after a throw of 23.14 meters.  Foster was followed by teammate Olivia Arredondo in seventh with a throw of 22.41 meters.  Sophie Thiel threw a distance of 17.84 meters to put her in 12^th.  Lakin Long wrapped up the field for the Warriors as she finished in 14^th with a throw of 17.30 meters.

 
What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will continue in the Outdoor Track and Field season on March 20 before traveling to Columbia, SC to take part in the Weems Baskin tournament.  They will then return to Central, SC as they host their second meet of the season.
