How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan attacked early as
Madison Woolbert took a shot on the goal, but Rachel Stalford kept the ball from reaching the back of the net. The Valkyries countered with shots of their own, but
Samantha Benner and the Warriors defense did not let the attempts pay off. Despite a shot on goal by
Brooke Cash, the Valkyries maintained the pressure as Izzy Fangman got past the defense to put the ball into the back of the net to put Converse ahead 1-0 at half.
Trailing the Valkyries entering the second half, the Warriors came out swinging as
Ashley Allen drilled the ball toward the net. However, Converse's goalkeeper Darian Bankston saved the attack to keep the Valkyries on top. The Valkyries countered with shots of their own, but Southern Wesleyan would not let them extend their lead any further. Southern Wesleyan attacked the net with back-to-back shots by
Bryanna Pickens and Allen, but neither ball found the net to allow Converse to take a 1-0 victory.
