How It Happened

Shaw charged out of the gate as Katherine Inhoof put the ball into the back of the net within the first minute of play to put the Bears on top 1-0.  The Warriors pushed ahead, but several offsides calls prevented from them from countering the Bears lead.  They would not let up as Molly Wanning passed the ball ahead of Joy Namyst.  Namyst spun around the defense and shot the ball into the goal to tie the game.  Despite several more shots by Natalie Thompson and Heily Hernandez, the game remained tied 1-1 at the half.

The Warriors maintained the offensive in the second half with shots by Wanning and Cayla Hughes, but the Bears blocked their attempts and countered with shots of their own.  However, Samantha Benner kept them from extending their lead.  Southern Wesleyan continued to attack the net with shots by Wanning and Namyst, but Shianne Duplantis got in the way from their attacks.  The Bears' attacks finally paid off as Jasa Curry scored the second goal for Shaw.  Shaw continued to push ahead, winning the game in a 3-1 final.
