How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate with shots on goal by Bryanna Pickens, Mallory Butler and Emily Corriher.  However, the Lions and Kristin Liquori saved the ball to keep the Warriors from taking an early lead.  Emmanuel challenged back with shots of their own, but the Warriors' defense got in the path of the ball to thwart their attacks.  The Lions attacks paid off as Hannah Logue got the ball around the keeper to put Emmanuel on top 1-0.  They maintained the pressure to take a 2-0 lead off a goal by Breanna Gomez at the half.

The Warriors continued to challenge the Lions in the second half as they sought to tie the game up and take the lead.  Makala Latsch and Maria Ramos drilled the ball around the defenders, but Liquori protected the net to keep the Warriors from tying the game up.  Southern Wesleyan maintained the pressure with shots on goal by Pickens and Hayleigh Von Ins.  Despite late shots by Ashley Allen and Madison Woolber, the Warriors could not gain the victory as the Lions won 2-0.
