Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped an exciting match-up to the Emmanuel Lions in a 4-0 final score on Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors recorded three shots and two shots on goal in the loss to the Lions on Sunday.  Jose Rangel led the team with two shots and one shot on goal.  Jon-Luke Rodriguez followed with one shot on goal.  Brandon Trimby played all ninety minutes in goal for the Warriors, collecting 10 saves.

How It Happened

Emmanuel charged out of the gate, but Southern Wesleyan countered their every attack.  The Lions took shots on goal, but Brandon Trimby and the Warriors defense saved the ball from the back of the net.  Jose Rangel took a shot, but the ball would not meet the net.  The Lions and Warriors maintained the pressure as they kept the game scoreless at the half.

The Lions took the first goal of the game as Mikaele Blakeley sent the ball to the back of the net.  Despite the Warriors defensive stepping up to every attack, the Lions distance themselves further with goals by Cian Walder and Will Fraser-Gray to lead 3-0 after sixty-five minutes of play.  A yellow card in the box allowed the Lions to take a penalty kick goal to put them on top 4-0.  Despite a late shot on goal by Jon-Luke Rodriguez, the Warriors dropped the game 4-0.

 
What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Bristol, TN as they take on the King Tornado on March 28 at 3:30 p.m.  They will then return home as they take on the North Greenville Crusaders on March 31 at 7:30 p.m.  The Warriors will wrap up regular season on April 10 as they travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey.
