Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped both games in the Saturday double header against the Emmanuel Lions in an 18-1 and 13-8 final.
The Warriors had six hits in the first game of the afternoon with
Parker Pillsbury leading the team with two hits. Both
Dawson Gilstrap and
Dawson Posick doubled.
Josh Galloway had the lone RBI and Gilstrap came in to score the lone run. Southern Wesleyan walked five times and both
DJ Ludwick and Pillsbury had stolen bases.
Devyn Bond started game one and pitched 4.1 innings while striking out one. Four Warriors came in to pitch in relief in the loss.
Southern Wesleyan put up 10 hits in the second game of the afternoon.
Josh Galloway doubled twice, and
DJ Ludwick and
Chance Fogel both had solo doubles during the game. Fogel recorded two of the eight RBIs. Six Warriors walked with both Ludwick and
Sean Sutay walking twice.
Andrew Patterson started the second game.
Josh Henshaw and
TJ McEvilly came in to pitch in relief. McEvilly led the team with six strikeouts.

How It Happened
Game One
Emmanuel took the first run of the game in the top of the first inning. The Lions continued to maintain a strong offense as they scored runs in all the innings of the game. Southern Wesleyan countered in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Dawson Gilstrap led off with a double to left field and then advanced to third on a ground out by
Tanner Glass. With one out,
Josh Galloway hit into a sacrifice fly out to bring Gilstrap home. However, the Warriors dropped the game in an 18-1 final.
Game Two
The Emmanuel Lions scored the first runs of the game on a home run by Henle and single by Bayona to bring four runs in to score to put them ahead 4-0. The Lions continued to push ahead with runs in the second, third, and fourth innings to push their lead to 8-0.
Southern Wesleyan scored their first runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Tanner Glass led off to reach first by being hit by a pitch. A single by
Parker Pillsbury through the right side advanced Glass to second. With two on,
Josh Galloway doubled to center field to bring Glass home. A ground out by
Sawyer Price allowed Pillsbury to come home.
Dawson Posick knocked a sacrifice fly out to left field to bring Galloway in and put the Warriors down 8-3.
The Lions regained their eight run advantage in the top of the sixth as they brought three more runs in to score. A double by Letellier in the top of the seventh allowed Emmanuel to take a 12-3 run lead.
The Warriors continued to fight in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Josh Galloway led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a single by
Sawyer Price. With one out,
Sean Sutay walked to load up the base.
DJ Ludwick reached base on a walk to bring the Warriors fourth run in to score. With two outs,
Chance Fogel doubled down the left field line to bring both Sutay and Price home to put Southern Wesleyan within six runs.
Trailing by seven in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Warriors continued to chip away.
Sean Sutay led off with a single up the middle, and then advanced to third base as
DJ Ludwick doubled down the left field line.
Tyler Rogers hit into a ground out to second base that allowed Sutay to come come. With two out,
Tanner Glass walked to put runners on the corners. A single by
Parker Pillsbury brought Ludwick home. However, the Warriors were unable to push further ahead as they dropped the game to the Lions 13-8.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the four game series against the Emmanuel Lions on March 21 as they take the field at 2 p.m. They will then host the Erskine College Flying Fleet on March 26 and 27. The Warriors will wrap up the series against Erskine on March 30 at 6 p.m. The Warriors will then host the Chowan Hawks on April 2 and 3.
