Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan picked up the first game of the series as they defeated the Emmanuel Lions 3-2 on Friday evening.
The Warriors posted 10 hits in the game, with
Tanner Glass leading the team with three. Glass was followed by
Parker Pillsbury with two hits. Pillsbury posted two of the three RBIs as he put up his first home run of the season.
Dawson Posick was the lone Warrior to walk.
Chance Fogel,
DJ Ludwick and
Tanner Glass all stole bases during the game.
Tanner Glass started on the mound for the first game of the series. Glass pitched six innings while striking out seven batters.
Ryan Moore and
Aaron Bennett both came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors. Bennett closed out the game for Southern Wesleyan, striking out three to pick up his first save of the season.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan and Emmanuel battled back and forth, each stranding batters on the base pads up to the bottom of the sixth. With one out,
Tanner Glass singled up the middle.
Parker Pillsbury followed with a deep home run that went over the scoreboard to put the Warriors on top 2-0.
Emmanuel countered in the top of the seventh to cut the Warriors lead in half. However, the Warriors maintained the offensive in the bottom of the seven inning.
Sean Sutay singled to first base and then advanced to third on a single by
Chance Fogel. With runners on the corners, Fogel stole second base.
Ty King Richards put down a bunt single that brought Sutay home and put the Warriors ahead 3-1.
Emmanuel challenged in the top of the ninth inning as back-to-back doubles by Matos and Henle to bring one run in. However,
Aaron Bennett came in to pitch and struck out the next three batters to keep the Lions from tying the match up and give the Warriors a 3-2 victory.
What's Next
The Warriors will remain at Dr. C Keith Connor Field on March 20-21 as they complete the series against the Emmanuel Lions. They will then host the Erskine Flying Fleet on March 26 and 27. Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the series against Erskine on March 30.
