Southern Wesleyan opened up strong against Newberry on Saturday taking five of the six singles matches of the morning.
Peter Kovats defeated Enzo Blavignat 6-0 and 7-5.
Jonas Grasmuck followed by defeated Marcel Schomburg 6-2 and 6-1. Sophomore
Enzo Marcheschi took down Stratas Anastopoul 6-2 and 6-1. Senior
Joseph Olatunji won his singles match against Adam Black in a 6-1 and 6-0 final.
Julio Lopes Polesi won the final singles match of the afternoon, defeating Clayton Elder in 6-0 scores.
In doubles action, the team of
Sarvesh Maria and
Enzo Marcheschi defeated the duo of Enzo Blavignat and Garcia De Soco in a 6-3 final.
Peter Kovats and
Jonas Grasmuck picked up the second doubles victory as they defeated Marcel Schomburg and Stratas Anastopoulo 6-3. Fabian Segrada and
Joseph Olatunji won the final doubles match up when they defeated Adam Black and Clayton Elder 6-0.
What's Next
The Warriors will host their home opener on February 9 as they welcome Piedmont College to the Rev Leroy C Cox Tennis Complex at 4 p.m. They will then travel to Milledgeville, GA to take on Georgia College on February 12.
