How It Happened
Mount Olive attacked early as they took several shots, but
Samantha Benner and the Warriors defense prevented any of the attacks from paying off. However, after twenty-five minutes of play, Jaelyn Brown took a pass from Alex Baker to allow the Trojans to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Warriors were not discouraged as
Joy Namyst and
Bryanna Pickens each took shots on the goal. Mount Olive prevented the Warriors from tying the game as they led 1-0 at half.
The Trojans remained on the offensive in the second half as they took more shots on the goal, but Benner remained strong, saving the ball from the net until Baker sent the ball in to the net to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead.
Emily Corriher drilled the ball into the net, but Taylor Lewis saved the ball from keeping the Warriors from cutting into their lead. The Warriors remained on the offensive with attacks by
Natalie Thompson and
Hope Robson. However, Mount Olive pushed ahead and scored two more times as they won the game 4-0.
