Montreat swept the doubles play on Thursday afternoon.
Natalie White and
Camille Cunningham challenged the Cavaliers team of Sophia Rojas and Sophia Hernandez. However, Rojas and Hernandez took the match in a 7-5 final.
In singles play, Stephanie Petit defeated
Ameek Batth in a 6-1 and 6-2 final to allow Montreat to take a 2-0 lead over Southern Wesleyan overall. However, the Warriors cut their lead in half as Maria Kotsiou took down Sophia Hernandez in a 2-6, 6-4 and 6-3 scores. The Warriors continued to chip away as
Noemi Aguirre and
Natalie White took their singles matches to put the overall match in a 3-3 tie.
Camille Cunningham wrapped up the day for the Warriors, defeating Katherine Austin 6-3 and 6-0 to put Southern Wesleyan on top 4-3.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on February 27 as they welcome the Young Harris Mountain Lions to Central, SC at 4 p.m. They will then travel to Milledgeville, GA on March 3 to take on Georgia College. The Warriors will then return to Central, SC on March 6 as they welcome the Erskine College Flying Fleet to Rev Leroy C Cox for their Conference Carolinas opener.
