How It Happened

Emmanuel jumped out early on as Michael Wright sunk a three and Kelvin Jones laid the ball up to give the Lions a 5-0 lead.  However, the Warriors were not discouraged as Ta'Jay Dunlap and Demarcus Addie sunk back-to-back three point shots to put Southern Wesleyan on top 6-5.  Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead as Addie made another three and Hunter Davis made a jump shot in the paint to put the Warriors on top 12-8.  Emmanuel challenged, but Southern Wesleyan stopped all of their attacks and stole the ball away.  With just under twelve minutes left in the first half, Addie laid the ball up to give the Warriors a thirteen point lead.  A three point shot by Arusha Hunter allowed the Warriors to continue to extend their lead to 26-9.  Emmanuel came to within thirteen on a layup by Jones, but a layup by Davis allowed the Warriors to extend their lead to 31-14.  Southern Wesleyan pushed further ahead on three point shots by Addie and Hunter.  A last second layup by Jalen Lowery allowed the Warriors to come to 44-25 ahead of the Lions at halftime.

Southern Wesleyan took the first basket of the second half as Davis laid the ball up to put the Warriors ahead by twenty-one.  However, Emmanuel countered on a jump shot by Brandon Simpson and three pointer by Jones to put them within thirteen.  The Lions continued to charge down the court, sinking several more threes to put them within three points of the Warriors.  However, the Warriors would not go down quietly as Addie made a three pointer to put Southern Wesleyan back on top by six.  A layup by Tranard Ferrell and three point shot by Lowery allowed the Warriors to get back on top by eleven points, but the Lions countered with a three pointer by Michael Wright to put them back within eight.  A jump shot by Addie put the Warriors ahead 60-50 with five minutes left in the second half.  Emmanuel continued to get closer to the lead, but Southern Wesleyan countered every attack as Dunlap laid the ball up and Hunter made free throws to win the game 67-64.
