Greeneville, TN – Southern Wesleyan falls to the Tusculum Pioneers in a 17-7 final on Sunday afternoon.
Southern Wesleyan recorded 12 shots in the loss to Tusculum.
Amy Pfefferkorn led the team with five shots on goal.
Haylee Cureton followed with three shots on goal and
Tabitha Beecher with two shots on goal. Pfefferkorn led the team with four goals. Beecher had two goals and Cureton had one.
Jesse Soles had the lone assist of the afternoon.
The Warriors had 12 ground balls during the game with
Jairy Sandoval leading the team with five.
Betsy Bovee followed with four ground balls. Sandoval led the team with five caused turnovers during the game. Southern Wesleyan collected eight draw controls with Sandoval leading the team with six.
Kaeleigh McDaniel recorded 11 saves, picking up her 500
th career save in the process.

How It Happened
Tusculum took the first two goals of the afternoon on back-to-back goals by Juliette Cusano and Kylie Marek. Southern Wesleyan countered as
Betsy Bovee collected the draw control and got the ball to
Tabitha Beecher who put it into the back of the cage to put the Warriors down 1-2.
Amy Pfefferkorn tied the game up for Southern Wesleyan as she scored a free position goal with just over twenty-two minutes left in the first half. A second goal by Pfefferkorn allowed the Warriors to take a 3-2 goal lead. However, their lead was short-lived as the Pioneers tied it up on a man-up goal.
Jesse Soles passed the ball over to Pfefferkorn, who drilled it into the goal for her third goal of the game and put the Warriors ahead. Cusano scored her second goal of the game to allow Tusculum to tie the game 4-4 at the half.
The Pioneers jumped out early in the second half as Tia Tuininga put the ball in to the back of the cage. Back-to-back goals by Kylie Marek and Emily Youngblood allowed Tusculum to take a 7-4 goal lead over Southern Wesleyan. Trailing to the Pioneers 10-4,
Betsy Bovee collected a ground ball and then a foul allowed
Tabitha Beecher to take a free position shot for the Warriors. Beecher's free position shot went into the back of the cage to put Southern Wesleyan within five of Tusculum. A second free position shot by Pfefferkorn minutes later put the Warriors down 6-10.
Haylee Cureton scored her first goal of the afternoon on a free position shot with just under eleven minutes left of play. However, the Pioneers scored three more times to win the game 17-7.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next host the Chowan Hawks for their first Conference Carolinas game of the season on February 27 at 1 p.m. They will remain at home on March 6 as they welcome the Barton Bulldogs to Childs Field for a 1 p.m. draw.
